yep. I don’t recall anyone questioning gutho’s work ethic.

I also don’t recall anyone defending Gutho when he was holding the club to ransom not long ago.

each and every poster was of the opinion he could get f*^ked. All of a sudden he’s become our greatest signing.

If I recall correctly 600-650k was what most posters were saying what his worth would be. Especially since there seemed to be little noise from rival clubs chasing him.


imagine signing guth for 100k less and having that to throw at ice, rheed or matto. Yet we choose to low ball em and ended up looking like fools.

Did we lowball them or did the desperate clubs that signed them pay overs?

We only know how we’re operating under the cap by looking at the quality of the roster overall. But we do know that if we sign a bloke ands he improves then it will take a bigger contract to keep him. We then have two choices, either pay him the upgrade (while refusing to match stupid offers from rivals) or we bring in another bloke and develop him so that he’s on unders. Remember it’s all about value. A player who is getting paid exactly what he’s worth provides less value than a lesser player on unders. This idea seems to be counterintuitive to some merkins. Maybe even most merkins.

Have you not noticed how efficient Penriths defensive line is due to Edwards? Most under rated Fullback in the Comp, and best value too.

Have you noticed its a lot better when Cleary is in the team.

Edwards is a good fullback but still isnt as good as Gutho as the last line of defense.

Anyhows Gutherson is ok. I think he is safe and good defence. Ball playings great. He is just very slow and no explosion. We paid too much but that's life......
