It is actually the second biggest one. Tearing your patella tendon is the worst single thing you can generally do to your knee. Takes ages to recover from and usually ends up robbing a player of their explosiveness. I can't recall it occurring any time recently in the NRL, for which I am glad.

Pffft...do the multi-buy like I did. ACL, MCL, meniscus. If you're gonna do something, do it properly :p

Of course you can always opt for the train wreck option. How long was the recovery, mate?

All up it was about two years until I could start running again and probably another 6 months or so before I was back to something like normal (bowling pace and so on).

Of course I basically had to self direct my recovery so it probably could have been quite a bit faster

Yeah that seems about par - maybe even positive - for the extent of the damage given you didn't have access to professional sports tier support. Nasty stuff mate, glad you made it back to playing shape.

I didn't my ACL then waited 12 months for my recon due to insurance eligibility.

Due to the wait, when the doc went in he said it was in a bad way and had to alter the way he would normally fix it up. I know have minor nerve damage and arthritis in my knee. I'll never get back to the Leon Bott esque speed I once had lol.

Doctor should have put you on the waiting list. I didn't have any insurance so was put on the waiting list as a public patient. Only took 9 months to have it done.

Mine turned out ok. Never had much pace to start with.

Wouldnt wish an ACL/Patella tendon rupture on anyone. I hobbled around for a month before surgery. 2.5 years later and still aches like hell after running, hence, I avoid running (which I would be doing anyway regardless of an injury)
