Why did we have to offer players big money a decade ago? Because we were shithouse. Same reasons dogs and tigers are doing it now.

Tigers offer him $600 or $700 and the bonus of playing under the person that picks and coaches the kiwi team basically guaranteeing you additional $$ for rep duty

Let say he does. And Madge gets sacked. Ice is not going to get that money anywhere else. Activating the clause would be equivalent to taking a massive pay cut. It's not logical. And his best chance of playing for NZ is to be in a strong side.
