Mariner would be a handy buy. We should be looking at him.
I'm also not against blowing the whole thing up and building for 2025. Look towards some hot junior talent and put them in the system.

I think we need to hit the market hard for players with leadership qualities.

Hodgson is a good start.

But we need more.

Gutherson's form is down, and he's not a leader.

Ditto for Paulo.

I don't think we have a genuine leader in our 17.

I agree with Hodgson and that's probably part of the reason we bought him. It's not like the club didnt know how old he was or what his injury history was.
Also a major part of the reason we went for Christian Welch and nearly signed him regardless of him being injured.

The club knows we need better on-field leadership. Unfortunately, it isnt something that is found by doing laps of Kellyville Park or running the Wanda sandhills in the middle of summer.

Yes to many laid back characters in our side. Lane has so much talent but lacks that merkin and desire to want to win. To many players like that. We need to find a Morrison, Beau Scott style.
I still feel we had to cut ties with Guth. You need speed at the fullback position. I don't care how safe he is. Its one spot where the player floats. You want someone explosive who the defense fears.

With some better onfield leadership, I would like to see Gutho moved away from the captaincy and into number 14 no later then 2024. He can finish his career there with us as a very versatile utility. Can slot into anywhere in the spine, on the wings or in the centres so covers 1-7 and 9 from the bench.

Who would be fullback in that set-up?

That's a lot of money on someone on the bench to cover for injuries.

Hodgson is nothing more than a stop gap solution. Silly purchase

EMBARASSING LOSS – FOR SURE.
The PLAYERS were off their games….just needed a slight adjustment and things could have been different…
Is the coach responsible for this?
Waqa Blake unlucky not to get first try.
Nine times out of ten RCG pass to Papalitti is not intercepted..12 point turnaround.
Simonssen holds the fingertip kick to score.
Moses scores under the posts..another 12 point turnaround as Dogs score from the seven tackle restart
Gutherson, playing catch up football, doesn’t throw an intercept pass.
Need to straighten the attack instead of crabbing across the field.
Oh, and by the way, in my opinion,Kafusi offers NOTHING
Confident the short turnaround will benefit the team and will beat the Chooks.

I'd like us to look at Cronk, Cam Smith or Slater. I feel any of those 3 will end up good coaches.
Ciraldo is talked up and interesting. But two former Penrith assistants also where and ended up duds.

I'd love Cronk or Slater. Smith doesn't seem to be a coach so much. He seems like the genius player that wouldn't make a great coach for some reason. Just a gut feeling on the way he speaks and relates to people. A Little to vague and cold almost detached. Great as a player to have that ice cool calmness, but I think you need to be very passionate and present as a coach that can relate to each player on many levels. That is a strength that all the great coach have. Does Smith have that maybe? But I am not so sure.

Yeah Pete but how do you explain the 30 against? 9 years of the current systems and our defence remains poor.

One of Cam Smiths great abilities was to adapt to almost any high pressure situation.

If he was motivated to coach; he would probably be successful. In the right system.
