1Finally, some good news for Parra

Parramatta has beaten off Manly and Gold Coast to snare Penrith prop Suaia Matagi.

The former New Zealand international appeared headed to Manly but negotiations broke down, opening the door for rivals to pounce.

Parramatta offered a handsome two-year-deal and the Titans came late with a three-year offer.

Matagi's preference was to stay in Sydney and he has agreed to the Eels offer.

An official announcement is expected soon.

It's a very handy pick-up for the blue and golds, who are also likely to add fellow Kiwi international Frank Pritchard to their books

I was going to say that Matagi and Vave are in for Paulo and Mannah however Timmy is 29 next year.

For what it's worth, i think tepai will knock back bigger money and stay.

For mine - Brown will be used in the back row with Scott, Edwards, Ma'u, Moeroa now we have signed Matagi. Brown replaces Watmough IMO.

Depth will be considerable. The Wenty side next year will be very capable.

It's funny, every article that comes out about Parra the headline is something along the lines of this. How many of these headlines do we have to get/ how many months have to pass before we see the end and something along the lines of "More great news for Parra"?

So is Brown playing in the back row or playing as a lock? I don't think Brown has ever played in the back row, assuming you mean second row, only as a prop/lock or middle forward if you will.

I think we'll definitely lose someone we'd rather keep. I'm glad it wasn't Ma'u. I'm sort of hoping Radrada gets rubbed out of the game so we don't have to see him play against us. But I think Moeroa will be the one to leave. Keen to see what happens with Gutherson too.

Lock, middle forward. Much like Scott and Moeroa were this year. I think Moeroa will be used much more on the fringes with Ma'u and Scott and Brown will plug up the centre.

I agree that Tep will play on the edges more often, just a tangent off this it appears in photos, videos and instagram posts that Tep has trimmed down a bit I think we'll see more quality minutes from him on the edge this year.

Don't think Ma'u will play in the middle, we will have enough strong middle runners that he can concentrate on playing on the left and becoming the best second rower in the game.

Even if Semi gets done he'll be back the following year for another club.
