Brown has signed a deal at Belmore for 23/24 if you believe social media.

a bench of

Rein
Brown
Niukore
Kaufusi/Ogden

if we are adamant on no utility to give Reed a spell then put Carty in

is far better than what we’ve been running out

Dylan or Nathan signed with dogs?

Looking at Coach's selections this season... Makatoa and Kaufusi haven't missed a game, and seem like his like first choice bench rotation from round one (except when one of them is dragged into teh starting pack to cover an injury). Maybe they won an off-season training competition or something?

When at full strength Coach then seems to opt for Niukore as his first choice for the third place on the bench - a smart selection, given his ability to cover edge forward/backline and also middle if needed during a game.

Which leaves the fourth spot, which you'd expect to be open to a utility who can cover spine and/or backline - we've had Rein, Cartwright and Jake Arthur (and on the odd occasion Perham / Opacic ) in that role. And some weeks the spot has been given to Rodwell or Greig... but as we know this 17th bench player is only sometimes used - maybe only for 10 mins, and sometimes not at all.

After Nathan Brown started some games as lock earlier this season (when the pack wasn't at what Coach would consider full strength), he seems to now only come into the bench these days when Matterson is injured (and someone promoted to start at lock), apart from a few games where they were named on the bench together when Coach was dicking around naming Papali'i or Nuikore as starting lock.

So under Coach Arthur it seems Nathan Brown is only a chance at the two middle spots (if we have an injury somewhere) or this 17th spot, if Coach decides to go into the game with four forward bench.... and I don't blame Brown for signing elsewhere if he fancies he's got more game time in him that our coach appears willing to give.

To go on loan like Gildart has done with Roosters and Tigers...
NRL contracts can’t be assigned. Gildarts move is two new contracts (probably not for very much). Do you reckon Knights wouldn’t take the opportunity to try and spilt that $800k over a longer period, or even just offer him less next year?

They would definitely want him gone. He's on reportedly massive overs on $800k a season. $400k each us and the Knights is a win win for all parties.
Just on Gildart
Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe meanwhile confirmed the club was still intending for Gildart to return next season.

“This works for Oliver, and it works for us as well. So strategically, it makes sense.

“Oliver will return to us after this short loan and begin preparing for 2023.”

Gildart joins David Nofoaluma in departing the Tigers on short-term loan deals in recent days.

The 2020 Dally M Winger of the Year, who hasn't played first grade since round 17, is headed to the Storm for the remainder of the season.

Someone better tell Oliver he has been linked to the dolphins and UK.

I think we need to win 3/5 to guarantee top 8 with our poor for and against. We need Roosters and Canberra to drop games.
I can see Canberra getting to 30 points and Roosters 28 with a superior for and against.
That means we need 2 wins.

Without Mitch how confident is everyone? It's very interesting but if we did lose this week and have Souths the following I reckon Alarm bells will ring.
This game against MANLY is huge. Potentially along with Dogs game our easiest. Those are the two wins I'd be targeting.
I reckon The Storm wil begin to wind up now and will still finish top 4 and needing to beat us.

Going to be a real interesting run home.

I still reckon Ciraldo is holding off from Dogs based on this. And I reckon Dogs are aware and why tried to wrap him up fast.
Lose the next 2 and top 8 is probably looking bleak.

So after all that, Klemmer was only ever a Hertz Rent-a-Prop, a loaner. The deal fell through because of the inflexible NRL contract terms that do not allow secondment of labour. Accordingly Klemmer would sign a new contract for year 2023 and he got greedy and tried to wedge Newcastle into giving him 2024 as well.

FFS!

Ogden has hardly set the world on fire in reserves.
Could've used him after round 12 or whatever it is. Is BA really going to use him now? If so it is more perplexing to wait this long or to realise we have a limp bench. Our whole go forward falls off a cliff once RCG and Jnr are off. Kaufusi has been better but the others have been below par.
Nrown Kaufusi Ogden/Marata and Cartwright needs to be the bench.
Makatoa has had had mote than enough opportunity and hasn't delivered.
Even Nuikore has been below par

But he currently would be getting $800k this and $800k next year. You said for them to sort out this season (Klemmer still gets this year’s $800k) and renegotiate in off-season for future (removing the guarantee he would get $800k next season). Given the opportunity to renegotiate, no club would pay him $800k a year, so there’s no chance he’d want to leave it to off-season.

Imagine paying Klemmer $800k a season. Whilst we’re at it, imagine paying Luke Brookes $1.2m a season.
