The English have a different system anyway, you can sign players who are under contract, you just have to pay a Transfer fee. He is available for 2023 in reality.^^^^ f**king Bulldog Ritchie.
Loophole could deliver English star Jack Welsby to NRL
Loophole you say ? I’m interested, tell me more !
NRL clubs are aware Welsby is under contract at St Helens until the end of 2025, but are devising a plan to sign the player for 2026, 2027 and 2028.
Once that contract is signed, and with Welsby ready to play in Australia, the successful NRL club would start to agitate St Helens for an early release for 2025.
So there isn’t a loophole, you dickhead. Grifted again by the Telecrap.
It's a secret code ffsSo pig latin is a thing again? I remember my Mum teaching me 60 odd years ago. Everything old is new again.

I think what he meant was the English league is more amenable to players moving while under contract. Negotiations would still need to occur between parties obviouslyAre you sure that contracted players can move without their current employer's permission? They certainly have transfer fees, but AFAIK they are negotiated between two clubs and the current employer is under no obligation to agree to a transfer while the player is under contract. You can't just sign a player who is under contract elsewhere.

Precisely. That tool is readily in use in Super League already. I wasn’t saying it means players/clubs can contract willynilly, just that it makes it easier for transfer to happen (I’m sure that’s also what Chippy meant). As opposed to here where “transfers” are negotiated via media speculationIn terms of whether you can sign players who are currently under contract there's no difference. Transfer fees simply add another tool to the bargaining between the current and new club.
I didn't say that, but the English sporting system is a lot different, with virtually every player available for purchase at the right price to their contracted club. Are you sure that contracted players can move without their current employer's permission? It is illegal in this country (not sure about the UK) to approach any person in any occupation and encourage them to breach their contract. It is not often enforced though, by any stakeholders, as most organisations would rather a disgruntled employee just f**ked off.In terms of whether you can sign players who are currently under contract there's no difference.
