I've been thinking about this on and off during the summer and I almost didn't post this, but seeing that our season basically hangs on the health and availability of a chronically injury prone veteran hooker, I decided to run it up the flagpole and see what happens.

There is a guy named Ben Patrick that I believe is probably the best strength and rehabilitation trainer I have ever seen. His program is called Athletics Truth Group (ATG) Knees Over Toes Guy. His ATG training focuses on building strength and conditioning while simultaneously bullet proofing the body from injury. It is also a training method that develops incredible athletic ability including explosiveness and even gaining more speed.

As far as I can tell, I don't think any club in the NRL uses his techniques, other then there was a strength coach at the Roosters named Keegan Smith, a student of Charles Poliquin (The guy Ben Patrick has modelled a lot of his techniques on) in 2019 when they won the Premiership, that did his own lesser version of it, that Patrick became aware of and reach out to him and they have since become friends, but has now left the Roosters and the NRL and does his own thing heavily based on Ben Patrick's philosophies.

I could not do these techniques justice trying to explain them other then they are very simple and that there is no pain involved and walking backwards is a huge part in doing them. Patrick himself was a basket ball player and had shot his knees from the age of 14 and by the time he was 21 he was done and could barely walk. Even when he was playing he could never dunk a basket, he just didn't have that type of explosiveness, but you should see hem now.

He trains the everyday common man no matter what age or condition they are in to the very elite professional athletes of American sports. His ATG program that he has refined and perfected has only been around for around 10 years and he has gone from total obscurity to around a million followers in a handful of years. He is also still young and when you watch some of his videos he is blowing away some of the most powerful athletes that just can't keep up with him.

Anyway, the main purpose for this post is knowing that some of you here have contacts within our club, maybe after seeing for yourselves what this guy does and what he can achieve, that you may mention to someone at the club to check him out. I mean not only would our dummy half potentially eradicate a reoccurrence of another ACL injury, but these techniques also can add speed and that all to vital explosiveness off the mark that is such a gift to have in the NRL.

Also a player like Moses could benefit immensely by strengthening his calf muscles that he has had trouble with in recent seasons and even add more power to his speed off the mark without fear of tearing calves, hamstrings or Achilles tendons. As we get older calves only get worse not better and are known as 'old man injuries'.

So I will add a few links to this guys videos and please check them out. Like I said, I think this guy is the best I have seen and many of his techniques are contrary to what other trainers prescribe. But the proof is in the pudding. The more you watch and listen to him, the more it all makes sense and is so damn logical. Oh and it doesn't take long to achieve the benefits, so starting now for our players would still see great improvements for this season. Cheers

Oh Knees Over Toes guy!!! .... i started walking backwards up hills for a while .... unfortunately i was lazy

Well lads another year is about to begin and honestly, I think we will surprise plenty and I have very high expectations for Parra this year. Think we'll win it this year. I know that every Parra fan says it every year but I genuinely think we will. The additions of Hopgood, Hodgson, and Barrett will take us to new heights. Hopgood will take our attack to the next level with his Yeo-style ball-playing ability. Vintage 2019 Hodgson incoming!! Already can see from the trial how good Doorey and Murchie will be for us and I predict Russell will be a mainstay on the right wing this year. Sivo has had a preseason to fully strengthen and recover from his ACL injury and Blake is in his preferred centre position. I also expect Gutho, Brown, and Moses to pick up where they left off. Moses is in for a big one. Penisini is in for a big year as well. The final factor for me is that we made it all the way to the grand final the main core has had that experience and now it's about taking the next step which I think we are more than capable of.

I think I counted 13 of our 24 games being on a Thursday or Friday night.
Probably an advantage for guys on the fringes who may be on bench but get low minutes.
Greig and JA could be examples. They would be fine to play the NSW cup game.

Helps with routine & recovery time as well.

I reckon regular 7 day turnarounds are perfect.

5 days or 9 days turnarounds can be either too short or too long.

Mate he’s selling you a fad as much as the guy who says all the exercise you need is the chair squats, or the caveman diet, or whatever was the fad before social media. Or even old mate with his trampolines.
Sure they have some merit, I’ve being doing this one on and off for 20 years, and yes I did watch the videos, but they’re not the panacea for all things athletic.

Edit -case in point, I’ve done his exercises but am currently dealing with some wrist RSI from clicking mouse at work and professional level wanking I do.
Believe Bones on Bones has wanking machine, kept at Hindy's place.
Edit: Needs velvet gloves immediately if anyone has any available.
