I respect what they are doing.

I think its great that we have not bent over so far. The easy option is to bend over just to appease fans.

MON seems to be doing an excellent job thus far.

How well he has done will be when Moses signs on the dotted line. We can then assess the $$ and contract length to determine how well management has actually done.

Gee 1.25 I feel is bending over for Moses.

Until the deal is signed we do not yet know the specifics.

1.25m is purely media speculation. There is nothing factual about his next deal that has been made public yet.
We still won't know the specifics until the deal is signed. It will continue to be media speculation.

I suspect the 1.25m figure was leaked by Moses management in a way to gage the medias and publics opinion on Moses' worth. Hoping that it would sway parra into thinking it is ok to pay him that amount.

Moses' management seem to be trying every trick in the book to push the Eels management for every cent.

We just need to hold our nerve and be prepared to walk away from the table.

On a possitve we seem to have some promising players coming thru in positions we need. It's a disaster if you produce a gun player in a spot you have covered. Think Burton.

From what I can see we have a few promising 2nd rowers in Matalele and Jock Brazel. And a few talented backs in Parry and Russel. By 2025 I think all will be a high chance of being in our NRL side.
Brazel has been named captain. Club must have wraps on him.

Your hate on Moses getting paid whatever (and it is a general NRL trait with saying player is being paid overs) is myopic. You can only really guess at contract signing if a player has signed for unders (guess because the player could still turn to shit), but guessing someone has signed for overs is either wildly inaccurate or more likely overstated. Can’t determine if someone is overpaid until they actually do the work. Case in point the Cows with Holmes, Townsend, probably even Dearden. A lot of people thought they paid overs for them, yet they smashed it last season so whether they are or aren’t definitely wasn’t determined when they signed.
But even if we take overs at signing as correct, it’s still a market factor. No one is signing Moses at $700k, even $1m is only going to be a foot in the door.
Certainly we don’t want to give him blank cheque, but we’ve definitely had players try it with us in recent years, yet we’ve resigned a lot of them. What’s the likelihood we’ve paid overs for a fair chunk of squad?

No hate at all.

I hope we re-sign him to a deal that reflects the best interests of the club.

Negotiations have numerous moving parts that change in a second. How valuable a player is differentiates greatly on a club by club basis.

didnt his last contract have incentives around making the gf? i reckon 1.25 is fine based on incentives, especially for a half that can go missing, but not as much as he used to.

I think we should pull the pin now. Moses has been good but 1.25 is silly for him. He has the best ball playing fullback in comp and a very good 5/8 taking a lot of pressure of him in attack.

Id then offer Brooks 500k for 2yrs or Toby Sexton a deal. That gives us 750k to spend on other positions. And also time to develop one of the 3 promising halves we have in Lynn,Talagi,Sanders. All seem to have good pedigree.

Our board I feel should have went 1.1 MAX and a dealine of JAN 30. The pulled offer. We have been very good to him.
My small rodents have told me that the media figures are misleading. That the offers are structured on some contingent conditions. These conditions have been in use for some time and are causing some visible grief around the league.

Agreed, if he was going to the Tigers he would have already taken the money and ran. He wants to stay here the club need to hold firm and not buckle. By 2024 Brown should be ready to lead the team anyway.
