Yeah he’s one of the best runners in the game. Why give it to Paulo or Drown or Moses when Reed Mahoney could be having a scoot ffs
But Mahoney engaging the markers more and running makes his halves all the more dangerous. The defence barely ever had to worry about Mahoney once. They knew the only danger was our halves which created less time and space for them.

Look at the Storm, merkins are shitting themselves even before they worry about Munster or Hughes. But keep on defending it’s what you do you crazy diamond.

The contract extension hasn’t been ticked off just yet but Eels halfback Mitch Moses says he’s “agreed” to a new deal to stay at the club after he helped Parramatta to a much-needed win over a Wests Tigers side which desperately tried to sign him.
According to reports, he has signed a deal to stay with Parramatta until 2028, but nothing official has come from the club just yet.
That led to a bit of confusion from fans but Moses was fairly clear on the matter when asked about his future, saying he hadn’t signed yet but that he’d agreed to terms.

So I watched yesterdays 100% Footy and for once Gus Gould made a good point. Apparently both Luai and Edwards are free to talk to other clubs from 1 November and he was asked who the priority should be. He said, Luai because halves are more difficult to come by and that Penrith are flush with fullbacks, centres and wingers coming through.

Assuming that happens do we make a play for Edwards? He is the type of player BA likes and would suit our structure especially if Gutherson is either moved on after this current contract or moves to the centres.

Edwards is 27 and would be Gutherson’s age now (29) in 2025 assuming we have to wait that long. I’d only do it if we could get him a year early. If not I’d try and buy a specialist centre/winger and another prop.
Edwards is good he’s won a GF behind an awesome team. But he’s a Gutho and definitely not an X factor

We need some variety around the ruck. Always Passing from dummy half makes you predictable. Defence knows where to go either Moses or brown. Just stick to your worthless stats.
Penrith play without their hookers darting about. Kenny and Luke just shift it.

That’s been the game plan all year. Those stats don’t lie.

They have clearly changed the way they have played after losing Api, rather than making players play like Api.

Luke and Kenny both run more than Hodgson. They each have more total running metres than Hodgson despite averaging less minutes than him.

Yeah but they are not running rakes, which is my point. If you don't have the players to do it, you don't.

This was the OG post.

Yea but they have more variety than Hodgson (and Mahoney last year).
No doubt. I think we can all agree that creative hookers are hard to find. Creative hookers who can run the ball, harder and creative hookers who run the ball and play 80 mins - hens teeth. So we signed a old guy who used to be able to do it, whilst we comb through the juniors. It's not perfect and we could have thrown cash at Sam Verrills. He broke himself (again) and the Tits have got the POM to replace him but only for this year and then he's going home.

That kid (Weeks ?) from Manly looks good, but join the queue. You just need to have 5 or 6 juniors coming through and hope that you get lucky.

Everyone keeps telling me around the traps that Hodgson was only signed for 2 years as a stop gap so he could mentor young Matty Arthur coming through the ranks who is seen as the future dummy half of the club from 2025 onwards.

Wouldn't surprise me if Matt is playing reserve grade off the bench at the back end of the year once SG Ball duties is completed to get used to playing against fully grown men before moving to dummy half in reserve grade next year and be ready for first grade the following year.

So i doubt we will go out and sign someone long term when we had the chance 18 months ago there was Verills & JMK on the market at the time.

Kenny has never ran, he’s a good defender with decent service Bea Arthur’s Wet dream. But Luke is is runner and he’s the perfect foil for someone like Kenny.

I wonder how quickly little Matty will be fast tracked?? Will it be as quick as Jakey?? It will be very exciting to find out!!

Well BA is even failing on the nepotism front this year (the merkin has fully blocked Jake by offering Drown and Moey long contracts) so I find it hard to believe that the timing is anything other than coincidental.

And before I get accused of nuthugging, I said on here that I wanted us to sign Verrills, but the bloke is fragile. And JMK.....I don't care what anyone says, he was a plodder for years. Credit to him and the Fins for the player he has become.
