So we were probably due for some bad luck.

Lane comes back, paulo is suspended then we finally get our full strength pack 2 weeks in RCG is now out for possiblly 2 months.

I guess when we lost Lane in pre-season trial writing was on the wall it may be one of those years.

I'm a prediction master. My prediction on RCG is around 3 - 4 weeks

I think it was an accident.

But the nrl dont seem to be ruling these accidents now. So he prob should cop some ban. Which then shows the bunker were too spineless to bin 2 broncos at the same time.

Brandy seems to think Hopgoods was the worst of the 3. I think that was probably an accident too. His body hardly ended up on the guys leg.

For some reason Brandy thought Mams was ok. Brandy is in f**kin lala land. To me that was text book hip drop. Tho i can understand how its hard to not make these kind of tackles in a split second.

They were all accidents. But reckless/careless is still illegal play.

Yep....and it seems like the bounce of the ball has been against us this season

IMO it should matter where the tackler contacts the player with the ball. When all the attention turned to the"hip drop" a few years ago, merkins were doing it intentionally and grabbing the player from behind and folding under them and pulling them backwards. Incredibly dangerous.
A lot of the supposed "hip drop" tackles Ive seen this year get pulled and penalised or worse, the defender initially hits the front of the player but the attacker pushes through the tackle and the defender finds himself draggign behind the attacker, but still hanging on. In that situation, unless he lets go and lets the guy score, he is going to end up on the attackers legs.

TLDR? If you hit the front of the attacker, it shouldnt be a hip drop.

All this hip drop stuff has made me realise how f**ken useless I’d be if I was playing today. When I was a kid most of my tackles were shoulder charges and hip drops, and not because I was taught to do those things. Shoulder charges were a way to protect my head and neck, and hip drops were an easy way to bring bigger players down. Both tackles now banned.

All this hip drop stuff has made me realise how f**ken useless I’d be if I was playing today. When I was a kid most of my tackles were shoulder charges and hip drops, and not because I was taught to do those things. Shoulder charges were a way to protect my head and neck, and hip drops were an easy way to bring bigger players down. Both tackles now banned.

Its interesting. We've played well below what we are capable of but haven't been belted yet. I maintain if we put it together and how open the comp is we can cause dramas at the buisness end. We just need to start winning.

The writing was on the wall when Matterson decided to keep $4k in his pocket and not bother playing for 3 weeks.

That was the end of 2023, right there and then.

Just an observation, the bunker official was the dark haired female touchie/ref who when I watch, stands in line with forward passes and drop balls and seems to refuse to raise the flag. Was there a thought of penalising the current golden boy and sending a Donkey to the sin bin would take them down to 11 would see more scrutiny on her performance, will never know but entered my head immediately.
