Do you have a source for that?

No, Just what I have hear the panellists on different shows mention when discussing these things. I think it gets a little complicated, or at least that is what they say, but that is more or less what happens.

Yeah I think Ram will find though front loaded contracts are somewhat encouraged
I'd imagine you can't frontload ridiculous amounts either. Just as they don't want you paying 150k in the first year and 600k in the second, I can imagine they wouldn't let you pay 600k in the first year and 150k in the second.

Gutho at centre is a waste and a slow tragedy, especially in 2 years time. If that were to ever happen, we have well and truly fallen off the perch as a club. Gutho at centre while other teams have Averillo types. Think about it? Hahahaha...Funny man.
What are your thoughts on Gutho as a hooker in 2 years time?

He will run from dummy half, he can kick a bit, he is super fit, he can tackle, he can pass.

Panelist on shows mostly know as much about this as anyone on this forum, they just open their mouth and speak words half the time without really knowing the actual facts.

I would hope by then we have done our homework and actually recruited a quality specialist DH than rely on moving our best and most consistent player and captain into the middle hoping that he can transition into a quality rake.

Maybe he can, but what if he doesn't? What then? We lose another season or two trying to find a suitable replacement? Matt Arthur may turn out to be a star, but what if he doesn't or he still needs a good 4 years or more to be a quality 9? What then?

All these speculations and assumptions are fine by us the fans, but if I were the coach, no way would I be punting on all these positional changes you guys are proposing and hope I am right.

We need a speedster and or powerful bulldozer in the backline. That's what we should be signing. We need a couple of big powerful boppers in the middle. That's what we should be signing. We need a specialist DH. That's what we should be signing.

Not moving and repurposing players that are gifted in the positions that they are currently in. If for some reason Gutho becomes pedestrian or ineffectual at fullback in 2 or 3 years time, we can reassess his position at the club then. If it coincides with his contract year all the better and it should reflect that to. Specialists and stability is the key, not makeshift and uncertainty.

Same Panelist talked up Schuster from Manly. Getting him his huge contract.

Some are and some aren't. Bit of a ridiculous generalisation mate. I didn't get my info from Blocker, but it would seem you two maybe related.

Before you get your knickers in a knot. It was just a joke son. Just a joke.

He's on the market from Nov 2024, so this time next year the media circus will begin. Sorry, it's not 2 or 3 years time Rammy.

Consistency is my middle name, however I have the right to be agile with form and squad changes.

I think we can safely assume that Waqa's money and the current cap space alone will approach about a million
You can ‘safely assume’ that it’s been known for a long time how much cap space (including Blake’s contract) has been available for 2024. Yet we haven’t signed anyone new despite them being free to negotiate since November 2022. Maybe it’s not that much after all?

Of course but a front loaded contract provides more definition to future cap space which reduces chance of poor cap management which means less risk of circumventing cap rules

Doesn't matter. He is still our best player mate. Unless you know something the rest of us don't know he should remain in that position and we should be working on our weaknesses in those other positions I have already point out.

The game isn't that hard to work out people. Gutho is not the sort of player that will just lie down and relax. He will always be a hard working merkin of the highest order. He has never relied on speed or strength. He is a workhorse type of player that just doesn't stop. Now barring injury, does anyone see that changing?

No matter what Potato Head has thought or said about us needing X-factor, Gutho is our best. Potato Head should be looking to add to that with real strike in the backline with speed and or power. Averillo is that speed and is staring him in the face. Will he take the tip and try hard to sign him? I sure have my doubts.
