All valid comments, however you missed the point of my post which was to call out the hypocrisy we see on here rather than suggest Crossland wouldn't be a suitable target.

If we had a suitable player here (arguably Hands/Jrthur & may be Yates in this case) I’d agree. I also agree that a few posters wouldn’t put the consideration into junior players we do and don’t have currently in development.
In my view we’ve gone from one extreme in mid 00s with heaps of juniors (Hayne et al) that end up being almost there but ultimately probably didn’t have the ideal attitude, to recently with barely any juniors that almost got there but probably at the wrong time (if we had a Mahoney or Penisini or such in 2017, I think we’d have been more likely over the past couple of years then we were).
Getting to where we did last year was probably some thing of an indicator we’ve got a better balance (heap of external signings plus juniors Mahoney, Drown & Penisini) but I think that right balance is still seasons away, plus we’ll still need to replace the current external signings that don’t have positional junior pathways with other external signings.

Well I am, which is why I can recognise coaching is important bit not the only (or even the primary) factor. I can recognise luck is a factor, and I can recognise that playing talent is the main factor. To keep that at a high level year after year after year requires resources. Coaching and luck will only get you so far.

Obviously the only factor that lends itself to scapegoating is the coach, which is why you’ve fixated on it.

Taking out his first game where he lasted a minute vs Rorters, it’s 116m a game with about half PCM. And it’s shit all kick return padding.

I tell you who I’d give an arm and a leg for as coach to replace BA, Cooper Cronk. He is incredibly astute, articulate, understands high performance culture better than just about anyone and I think he’d be a massive attraction for players to work under.
