This is disgraceful. f**k me. I reckon he will not be here next season and no he has never been inducted to the shit list.

Which would be a pity. It amazes me that Neanderthal fans hold him to the same standard as an elite half. He should be judged as a near minimum cost half which allows us to carry players such as Moses and Brown. It’s embarrassing that he is subjected to such dross. I just hope that he knows he has a lot of fans that appreciate his role, talent, and effort within the squad.

NRL deep dive: Why Parramatta Eels’ State of Origin period will make or break their season

Parramatta has a window of opportunity that can either kickstart their bid for back-to-back grand finals or kiss their season goodbye, PAUL CRAWLEY writes.

we're f**ked well before Origin gets here with all out injuries, its hardly rocket science from just reading the headlines

According to DW Bradman Best and Daniel Saifiti are being put up for sale. We MUST buy Best. We've been a centre short for a long time. I didn't even rate Opacic as a solid first grade centre. Please use your brain BA and don't be stubborn on this one

What other metric can you offer other than your subjective opinion? Number of Origin players is a great heuristic. Another is pre-season premiership odds.

Yes, they came off contract and would no longer be on unders. Replacing them with other players on unders isn't something you can reliably do just by going to market. Mahoney, Kaufusi and Niukore were on unders because we developed them over multiple years. Hopgood is a decent acquisition comparable to Papali'i but the others are journeymen or youngsters who require the development afforded to Mahoney et al.

I think an average amount of luck would see us finish in the bottom of the eight, while an above average amount would be top four. Therefore a below average amount of luck quite easily includes missing the eight. IMO of course.
Well I would argue a teams ability is subjective and there’s no one ultimate methodology to demonstrate it. All you can do is put forward your best arguments. There is no objective comparison. Your number of origin players argument is one of many possible ones but it’s by no means a slam dunk.

We could keep our fringe players because we couldn’t afford them anymore due to having to spend big money on other good players. That’s a sign of having a good team.

Well if you’re going to use luck as such a prominent factor in where a team finishes then how do do know Penrith just haven’t been the luckiest team the last two seasons? How do you differentiate between an inherent trait and luck? It’s a huge cop out to say if we miss the 8 this season it’s primarily due to bad luck.

Well I am, which is why I can recognise coaching is important bit not the only (or even the primary) factor. I can recognise luck is a factor, and I can recognise that playing talent is the main factor. To keep that at a high level year after year after year requires resources. Coaching and luck will only get you so far.

Obviously the only factor that lends itself to scapegoating is the coach, which is why you’ve fixated on it.
Do you believe the coach is maxing out this current roster?
