I'm worried he is throwing money wherever can just to bolster the squad so they don't finish to low amd risk his job while no real care about the long term plan for the club.

We really need to hurry up and finish this centre of excellence
We are expecting excellence from the COE, but will we get it? Who will run it and will there be any bias? Maybe it will become a Centre Of Infighting.

The Eels are reportedly set to hand prop Wiremu Greig a three-year contract extension to remain at the Parramatta club until the end of 2026.

Greig has the potential to be that enforcer with more FG experience and hopefully improved fitness as he matures more he can play that role for us.

Considering we have put 2 years of development into him it would be waste to see him go now and thrive at another club.

According to that little Greek guy from NRL360, not Braith the other one. Ofahengau is on

$450k this year and $600k for 2025 and 2026.

You’d take him if the Tigers chipped in $250k for next year and in ‘25.

No chance we should do it otherwise.

With a 12m salary cap and a 30 player squad, 400k is your average player salary.

So 450 - 500k would probably be about right for a better than average middle.

What idiot allowed that?

Answer hopefully the same idiot that's about to chip in 250k a season for him to play for us!

lets say $250k for mimoisa (spelling) and $400k for Ofahengaue. why didnt we just keep Ice?

Baldy and his recruitment guru's are dumb.
Wouldn't we need at least one more to make up the top 30?
At minimum wage that's another $130k so $520k for Ice? Would that have been enough?

Yeah I get it we need to fill the top 30 spots plus we probably didn't have the cash for ICE available at the time but have since released Brown and whoever we sign this year will come pretty cheap. Davey this year would take up maybe 50k of the cap.

You would still need to sign someone on minimum to cover that spot. You can't say you could of spent this much on 1 player rather than 2. It's like saying we could sign Harry grant on a million a year but we would have to lose lane and matterson

i get all that and hindsight is wonderful. but we dont use Murchie, Doorey or Mimoisa (even when RCG is out), i know there is more too it than that in regards to filling your top 30. i'm just frustrated.

there is a few thoughts floating in my head lately - would be interested to hear opinions

1. Moses is a great player, especially when we are on the front foot. But he goes missing most of the time when the chips are down. he has flare and can create something from nothing, but so can our 5/8. i am worried we are spending a lot of money on a long term contract with someone who can take you far, but not all the way. Moses will never control a game like Cleary or Reynolds or to a lesser extent, Hughes and Ben Hunt. i think they are the types of players you need to win a GF.

2. Our 10 year game plan will never be a success until BA improves his bench rotations and plays RCG and Gary Barlow for shorter minutes. more importantly, our chase the collision and run hard plan will not succeed whilst our backline includes, Sivo, Russell, Dunster and Simonnsen. None of them have the power to make yards out of our end.

3. impact players - we dont use the ones we have. we just use our toilers because supposedly they miss less tackles. its not always all about stats. i have been really impressed with cartwright this year, he has a mistake in his game but he also has the ability to create. the other player who i though showed aggression in defence and constantly bent the line was Doorey - where the f*** is he?

I came away after the Newcastle game still feeling disappointed - i felt like we should have scored 60+ points. we blew so many chances.

we just plod. our backs are soft. our forwards aren't scary or aggressive. our backs and our edge rarely move together at pace. if Brown or Moses dont fire we are basically stuffed.
