I’m now a bit concerned that we seem to have a significant cash pool and are just looking to spend it for the sake of it when we may be better off writing this season off effectively, front loading that extra cash into Moses or whoever and having a better crack next year/2025.

No one wants to write a season off but RCG & Lane aren’t going to be replaceable easily and not with anyone who isn’t going to likely heavily affect salary cap for future years

Torn on this one and probably agree with Ram.

I like the idea of Ofahengaue and think he is better than some of the plod out there...but we have to be careful on price.

I also think Twal may be an even better option for our club at this point, which would shore up the front row and allow us to go hard at a centre and a hooker.

This is always the key factor. I’ve given club benefit of doubt on how they’ve performed past couple of seasons even on the head-scratchers, but not winning this season, then jumping on Davey, now chasing a probably already overvalued Ofahengaue seems a lot like throwing good money after bad money. Ofahengaue could be a great signing, but I worry he’s not being signed for the right reasons

A couple of years ago yes, however the clubs recruitment/retention has been good the last 12-18 months. The fact that another club is wanting to sign him shows that it can’t be that bad.

It's Parra that we are talking about wanting to sign him. We signed a 3 times crippled geriatric to replace an up and on the rise DH star.

I wouldn't be to sure of that.

Joe O would give us a middle and allow Matto to play on the edge and give Carty a flexible role. We've been trying to get a middle for f**king ages.

I smell a parra fit joke brewing.

It will take atleast this season to get him Parra fit but

Think he’s a solid player with definite upside. Gone stale at the tigers but that’s to be expected

Hasnt gone stale. Last year was his best year and he was back to his SOO form. Was our best forward by a long stretch in a poor and badly belted pack. This year he is working in a pack that is beating their opposition most games and he is struggling to match the impact of the rest of the pack. If (big if) he genuinely wants out, IMO its because he can see the writing on the wall with stronger options in our current pack rotation and good kids on the verge.

Personally I hope its not true. He is currently our least effective forward in the starting squad but solid and a great guy with a great attitude (which makes me doubt the story).

Was it Twal that had the concussion issues?

If your club is looking to sign a player the best place to look is the opposition forum, if by far the majority of them dont want him to leave then id say its a sign hes a good player. The sentiment in this post is exactly whats going on in the tigers forums atm, unlike when we were releasing Moses Mbye and the place was partying like it was 2005.
