Ba players are no frills, do your job at a consistent level at a high effort, minimal errors and Davey fits the bill. Bas thoughts would be we have enough strike in the team to not have more players who takes risks

If hopgood consistently made errors, he wouldve been dropped though he is high on effort. But he has been much more consistent lately.

So i think ba would trust Davey more than carty otherwise he wouldve been signed up already. He doesn't provide anything to ba that he can get ouy of Davey

On current form they are neck to neck, if carty gets the edge spot first, once his effort areas and errors drops and his flamboyancy comes into it more and don't come off, then Davey will be right back in
I don't think the Davey signing had anything to do with whether Cartwright gets extended or not.

We had a spot in the roster.
Davey was/is a known quality who knows our systems.
The price was probably right.
No way he was signed as a replacement for Bryce.

I didn't mean that. I meant with Davey here now, the urgency of keeping carty is not so high

In his interviews, the praise for parra is there and for ba. So why hasn't he signed? Low ball offer? So he isn't that high on our priority of you ask me.

I agree we signed Davey because of injuries and had we not, carty might have been signed up by now

I think you're jumping at shadows and the bolded bit is just a wild guess.

I think Cartwright is an obviously better attacking player than Davey, but it’s attacking ability that jacks a player’s price up.

I think as well that he was an instant improvement in defence, which was/is our team weakness. Ofahengaue is another short term defensive fix.

I reckon the signing of Davey is probably more a signal to Murchie that he's failed to adjust to his new club and live up to his potential.

You need competition anxiety throughout all positions.

I would not put a line through Murchie just yet. Maybe he will realise First grade positions aren't guaranteed.

He played plenty of edge in Cup. I know there are some here that think that players should get selected in NRL just because, but for mine you have to earn your spot.

Then he plays middle in the NRL, I guess BA didn't trust Greig and Morretti early in the season as cover.

BTW does anyone think Murchie is wide as f**k in the shoulders?

No his strength is high tackle efficiency, not high work rate.

No he wasn’t lol. And he was solid at best in round 1. After he was brutally exposed by the Sharks around the ruck in round 2 he’s been a missed tackle and penalty magnet.
He has recently stopped getting off the line so quickly, and been less isolated. This has led to an increase in tackle efficiency. He is using his effort in ways that better suit our team, such as kick pressure and getting numbers into the tackle. He’s been good.

If you are looking for positives in Hodgson's game then you are obviously a troll.
