No f**king way we are paying Joffa 650k.

If that's what he's on for 24/25, Tigpies are paying part of it.

First of all, they are not. Secondly, what do you think the motivation was for Tigers to let him go midseason and not waiting to offload at the end of the year? Tigers concern for Parra's lack of middles? The reason Tigers let him go then is because that was the offer (Parra paying full freight) and the offer would not be there at the end of the year.

Even if that were true, the contract value matters over the course of the entire contract, not just in individual years.

But there is no reason we would sign him at Tigers prices. We will have offered him what he is worth to us, not what he was worth to Wests when they signed him. If the player was unwanted then he likely negotiated a payout that suited him. Our offer is separate from that. His payout from the Tigers is to cover the difference in what he would’ve earned if he stayed vs what he will be getting at Parra.

nope....Parra approached Tigers. There is no reason for Tigers to let Joffa go midseason without him being replaced in our squad. it doesnt even help that much with salary cap. The only reason it happened that way is because Parra approached Tigers, made the offer to pay full freight but the offer was conditional in it happening midseason (when Parra needed middles) and that the offer would not be there at the end of the season.

For what it is worth, my understanding of the 2 statements here is that both are incorrect.

I have good reason to believe what I just said.
What I have said is correct 100% and my source for half of it is the highest you can get. Of course I also realise that to assuage your cognitive dissonance, no one here will believe me and believe what they want and in the end who cares its a football forum.

Ok. We should meet at next Tiggies and Eels games and compare!

Not trying to be difficult, I do appreciate your contributions.
All I am saying is that my understanding is that the Eels are not paying full freight, and JO's contract < IP

My source is no longer at the Tigers. I know with 100% surety that Parra are paying full freight and that that is the reason it went down the way it did (Tigers were not shopping him). I am not 100% in exact figures of JO or IP's Contract for obvious reasons but from club sources they are comparable and both 100% paid by their current clubs.

Fair enough mate. What’s the worst that could happen.

Get f**king aids and die I guess.

But then you could also skip the aids bit and move straight on to the dying bit jumping in a car, particularly if the driver's a 22yo male.

Life has it's risks

You don't mitigate risk by not driving, you throw on your seatbelt, you don't mitigate risk by not rooting, you wear a phranger. Or if you're female you get on the pill and insist any male sexual partner wears one.

Anyways all this digresses from the original point, which was your judgement of the protagonists character based upon your moral leanings around their choice of venues in which to have sex.

Just because they choose to f**k like rabbits in the bogger doesn't make them pieces of shit, it just means their morality around sex is different from yours. It's really neither of our business.

I dare you to check with your source again and tell them that some random idiot on an Eels fan board thinks that Parra didn't take on the contract exactly as is. And although Parra is paying more than 50% (more than 75?!?) it is less than 100.

Could be that the source gets angry at the mere suggestion - but maybe it'd be funny to watch??

Yet they did, so it appears there was reason, and now that Joe has stated it wasn't what he wanted, obviously we are left with it being that whatever the reason, the Tigers had one.
The only reason it happened that way is because Parra approached Tigers, made the offer to pay full freight but the offer was conditional in it happening midseason (when Parra needed middles) and that the offer would not be there at the end of the season.

.....and again, if the Tigers had no reason, why would they care if the offer was not there come next year?

Have you considered maybe you are being fed what you want to hear because your club dogged him?

Watching it now. Very good. Like Cleary said about us before the first final, "If we don't get it right they can beat us. If we do get it right I don't think they can." Simple stuff. They had a better team. If they played their best it didn't matter how well we played.

This year I don't think anyone has a better team than we do (though there's quite a few that are as good). The comp is wide open.
I don’t think we have the best team without Dylan Brown. Didn’t you say before that you thought the Broncos had a better roster than us?

We are lucky these days we don't have to pay the Parra Tax to players where you had to pay an extra 5-10% to players to convince then to come to us when we were a basketcase between 2011-2015.

We finally rid ourselves of that for the time being.

Its changed now its called the Tigers Tax where they have to pay extra to convince any half decent players to go there while topping up the superannuation for blokes over the hill.

I believe our friend Tigers5150, the Tigs haven’t made a recruitment misstep in forever. This is reflected in their continuing success.
