I was in the "let's move on from BA" camp a month ago.

But what he has done on the last month is nothing short of brilliant - our season was looking done a month ago, and with a lot of players missing through injury, we were in big trouble.

He has gotten Ogden, Hands, Greig (prior to his injury), Hopgood, Cartwright, and Simonsson playing terrific footy, and we are now in the 8.

Brad annoys me at times, but I have to give the man credit - he knows what he's doing.
Yeah same.

Moving on his offspring could have been turning point.

It has freed up his mind and he is coaching better then ever

He was super annoying and stubborn and i hated it. Saying shit like reg and Paulo gets paid alot so they should be on the field for long periods of time and everyone else gets 0 to 5 mins game time is stupid.

However, I'm not yet convinced. The teams we beat werent that great. And alot of the changes were forced on him especially injuries and backup players. The backup players did perform. Now whether that was ba or someone else or the backup themselves i dont know.

Even the ja departure i reckon was forced on him due to moses resigning

To be fair, those "next man up" merkins have not found their mojo, fitness and skills since Jake became a silvertail.

I think partial seasons are too small a sample to make any judgment on coaches. Even one season in isolation tells us nothing. Look at Arthur’s wooden spoon in 2018 or Maguire’s 2014 premiership. Neither season is representative of the coach. They are outliers. You need to look at bigger data sets. Career win rate is a good one, though I think the results of three consecutive years is enough to form a judgement.

He said they should be able to play long minutes and he’s right. Paulo played 70+ minutes against Souths because we needed him. Against the recent stretch of shitty opponents we haven’t.

Barrett is the big difference in my opinion. But none of us will ever really know.

But our whole team just look a lot more in control and connected then I think I can remember in a long time. Sure Arthur has to be given credit, but he has been telling more or less the same individuals to chase the collision for years, but we found it to hard and would fade at different points or totally fall apart at stages during games or during parts of the season.

We this year due to injury and suspension did have a poor start but generally were in the fight for most games. Now hopefully as these players start to come back we will see exactly how much improvement we have if any when we play better sides when they too are at full strength.

As encouraging as it has been though beating these lesser sides with our weaker squad of players being part of it, I am not counting my chicken just yet. I want to see how we play for 80 minuets week in week out against the best.

If our attack and defense are both good enough and we don't just get lucky and win, then maybe we have actually turned a corner. But our defense does seem to have gotten better too. The best way to describe our improvement to me is we seem calmer and more purposeful with surety and for larger periods of time. We seem to have a plan to get from A to B on the field more often then not.

I hope this does last for when we play the better teams, but being a Parra fan, we all know what to expect and disaster is only a moment away until the players and club can prove otherwise.

But Barrett for mine is a big part of what is going on at the club right now. He is one of the best if not the best offensive assistant coaches in the game. That is his goldilocks place in the game of RL and boy am I glad we have him. Now if only we can source an equally good assistant coach for our defense. Wouldn't that be something? It might even elevate Potato Head to Super Potato Head status, a feat not thought possible only a couple of weeks ago by this Potato Head.

Merkins are kind when we are 4 on the trot. We lose one and the knives will be out again.

As it should be with this squad. We played in a GF last year ffs!

To be losing games that we all know we should be winning, the blame lays at the feet of the Head Potato.

Everything else is just an excuse. Even the players kept telling us that they should have won those games that they lost and we mostly all agree, but for varying reasons we failed to rise to the occasion. It's the coaches job to have us up for every game and switched on for the entire game. That has eluded us for years. Lets hope that this year it turns around for us and we find that consistent quality that can deliver a premiership.

We have the second best for and against in the comp. Given the injuries we've had, we are sitting pretty well. Our start to the year wasn't as bad as we think, we lost alot of close games and played relatively well. A couple games we dropped when we should have won but we are definitely scoring and defending well without a full strength team yet. I hope our players don't make origin for game 3, Parra have a real chance to shake up the finals if we stay in the 8.
