Hodgson signed a two-year deal with us, with both parties having an option for the 2nd year. Presumably he has simply activated a player option for the 2nd year. From April 2022:

I think we all anticipated this. Hodgson said as much when he was asked about the contract duration. He was always going to activate his option. Even the Predictor saw it coming!
