Has the off field player behavior at Parra ever been worse than it is currently? Wtf is going on?

De Gois is a very underrated player. Cannot see him missing out on the starting 17 assuming we will play 2 hookers.

I can certainly see the value that King brings to the table, but De Gois' leadership (particularly of our defensive line) and his defence make him a valuable player to our team imo.

Definitely.

But De Gois' defence is far superior, and I think he brings value for that alone.
King's defence must be poor then, IDG missed plenty of tackles last year (the worse in the club for any player I believe) with Wicks close behind if I remember. If King's defence improves, and who says it won't, (as BA picked the teams defence up from near last to about 5th best last year in one orf season) than he will definitely be in line for 1st choice hooker. My only concern, if used as a 80 minute player, is if his body is up to it? He probably had his first full season without (serious) injury last year in many years by the sound of it.

A year like we had is bound to cause some strife in terms of behaviour

Disagree. When Melbourne got done for the same thing I don't think they had many players caught up in criminal investigations and / or other major off field incidents

*There was a Greg Inglis incident (DV case) but that was 2009, not 2010 the year they got caught and stripped of their points.

De gois out of dummy half is no threat at all. A complete slug. Defense maybe good but offers nothing in attack or support play. And no kicking game at all.
Matt keating was a better defender then de gois and everyone on here hated him. Mk also could kick and support play was better. De gois was a very good hooker but going into 2017 he would rank bottom 3. De gois is tough as nails and does bring attitude to the team but if he plays i say its 50 mins with Kaysa or King creating havoc.
Taking away any threat from dummy half puts more pressure on Norman and Gutherson. Robbie farrah love or hate him would of been a very handy buy with his kicking and organizing game

De Gois did miss plenty of tackles, but he also attempted plenty.

King has always been a little bit soft on contact; he connects, and has a tendency to drop off.

I think De Gois and King working in tandem would be great.

I always thought we should have used Matt Keating's kicking game more.

Melbourne are different IMO. They went straight into siege mode with guys like Cam Smith leading the way. We haven't really got anyone like that at the club, maybe Beau Scott but he's got way more to worry about at the moment. We have a pretty young side really, and senior players like Mannah, Wicks and De Gois are hardly hard arses.

They handled it better...and you also have to wonder whether anything went unreported all the way down there. Cam Smith couldn't get away with much but the Vai Toutai equivalent could probably glass a bloke and no one would know if no charges were pressed. Even in Canberra you should see the shit some Raiders players get away with....
