I think Hands has been decent. It's helped that he hasn't had to play long minutes against any of the good teams, until last weekend anyway.

But we are in no way better off with top 17 players unavailable. For the first three weeks we were missing Lane, Matterson, Ofahengaue and Davey from the current side. Hands would've been helpful too, but you're off your head if you think he's ready for 80 minutes every week.

Yeah of course, but if Lussick (an inferior defender) had played we might not have even been close enough for those errors to matter.

Yes Lussick is a better dummy half than Stone but he isn’t a top 17 standard defender. I agree that we likely would have done better with Lussick but it’s no foregone conclusion.
