yes at the end of the compAndrew Webster is right. Play Origin over 3 weeks, get it over and done with and no dead rubbers.
My concern with that is it is the wrong time of year. The season seems to go for a decade now so it would be played when fans are gearing up for the croquet season or something else.yes at the end of the comp
2025 will probably be his last. he is a pretty exceptional human off the field and will stick by his ContractHow long do you reckon you keep Bula for? I’d be surprised if he’s there in 2025.
I'd suspend the comp for Origin after about 16 rounds, continue to play it on a Wednesday. It would be suspended for 3 weekends. Every NRL team gets 2 Byes in the season, 1 team per week, except for the weekend after Origin 3 where 9 teams get a Bye on one weekend (primarily those heavily impacted by Origin). The NRL would start one week earlier and have 25 rounds. Those players with nigling injuries would really benefit by the 3-4 weeks break after 16 weeks, all the others could get match time in one of the ways below.Suspend the season for 3 weeks after about 8 rounds.
You can keep anyone if you pay them enough. We had Hayne for most if his career. Certainly the only other NRL club he ever played for was also well known for poor management. How long do you reckon you keep Bula for? I’d be surprised if he’s there in 2025.
Zero chance of the NRL giving up dead rubbers with the amount of money they make.
Can we still do loans like harry frant to tigers.... Bring api over

Great post. It would be a good time to get exposure to the other levels of the game besides NRL and NRL clubs. There is definitely NRL rash after 16 rounds.I'd suspend the comp for Origin after about 16 rounds, continue to play it on a Wednesday. It would be suspended for 3 weekends. Then:
I'd start the womens comp when the men start their break to give the women some real exposure without the men's game.
I'd also suspend both the NSW and Qld Cup comps during the period and create a new knock out "Challenge Cup" style comp with $1 million prize money for all of the NSW and Qld Cup clubs. NRL Clubs can drop NRL players back to play, with some limitations. Some of these matches would be broadcast on Foxtel/Nine in the normal NRL time slots, maybe even every game with matches Thursday to Monday on TV. The Final would be on the Wednesday after the third Origin.
I would then suspend the women's comp and play 3 women's Origin's on the following Wednesdays. There would be 7 weeks in a row of some kind of rugby league on a Wednesday. The Women's comp would recommence after this and their finals would be the same time as the men.
I would play all under age Origins during this time, or maybe even on the Wednesday's after the Women's Origin to continue the "Wednesday rugby league festival". I'd also consider having a standalone Under 21's Origin with NRL players during the 3 week suspension.
I'd also consider asking the UK Super League to suspend their comp and NZ and England play some tests during the period. The Top 4 UK Teams could even be asked to join the knock out comp above to make it neat 32 teams.

Or just go simpler, start comp 1 week earlier, every team plays 24 games plus 1 bye and then weekend before each Origin no one plays. Fill those weekends with other rep games and WNRL.I'd suspend the comp for Origin after about 16 rounds, continue to play it on a Wednesday. It would be suspended for 3 weekends. Add 1 more team, create 2 x 9 team conferences, play teams in your conference twice and other conference once = 25 rounds, add 3 stand alone bye rounds for origin and other rep games in the middle.it would go to shit if they moved it to the end of the year and international footy would be affected .... players value their time off in the off season, many would opt out on the basis of, oh i have an injury
if they shrunk the season to everyone playing everyone once, then maybe you can slot in standalone origin.
Or just go simpler, start comp 1 week earlier, every team plays 24 games plus 1 bye and then weekend before each Origin no one plays. Fill those weekends with other rep games and WNRL.
Effectively 4 byes for every team each year. If rep players are adequately compensated I’m sure they’ll be ok. The only problem is spacing of the Origin games
What the f**k are you talking about? And of course the major injuries that will invariably happen and ruin the season for so many teams over time.
You don't think so, what if we lost quality players for the season playing in these other rep games and I'm not even talking about Origin?
