Add 1 more team, create 2 x 9 team conferences, play teams in your conference twice and other conference once = 25 rounds, add 3 stand alone bye rounds for origin and other rep games in the middle.

If you mean have 2 conferences with different "divisions" then that wouldnt work given the challenges the NRL faced in merging and kicking teams out historically. A 2 conference system with all 18 teams in the same "division" and with the conferences based on some type of geographic distribution would work better.

25 rounds and then the top 3 from each conference play off in the finals series, or optionally top 4 from each conference in intra-conference finals then the winners of each conference in a "grand final".

Relegation will not work here. If two teams got relegated that is the end of them. We don’t have the population, let alone a rugby league population to support it. Fans won’t follow them in reserve grade. No decent player will stay there if they are in reserve grade.

I just caught the ABC before the Manly Cows game and someone texted in to the show saying Fittler was a somewhat unprofessional in his interview. What was the gist of the interaction?

I'm off the merkin. Too precious to be a good coach and add his weird and confusing team selections he is more of a gimmick coach that hasn't learnt anything from his mistakes.

Watching old games on youtube feed (such as Eels v Tigers from 1980 Tooth Cup). Tigers just knocked on on the first play, scrum on their twenty but they have the feed, what was the rule around scrums?
Also watched one a few days ago where the team that kicked out on the full had the feed.

From memory the rule was that if you knocked on in your half then your team had the feed. Scrums were a contest back then as well.

In general his tone was very defensive. Gave it to the media in NSW and also some old NSW players saying they had agendas against him. Said QLD would never treat their team that way. Pulled the mental health card re people questioning Best selection. Andrew Moore’s last question was ‘given they have now lost two series in a row, is there anything he’d change about this series?’ Fittler launched into a rant about how his results as a whole are better than the average winning rate of NSW and Moore was focusing on only the last 2 years that they have lost. He seems angry. And he f**ken mumbles.

I generally disliked Billy Slater when he was playing (ok being honest i thought he was a total dickhead). But his media and now coaching work has shown me a different person .... its terrible. I feel like I like him now. f**kin rabbit.

Conversly, i liked Freddy, but he certainly seems to be getting angrier and less likable.
I actually agree with some things he said in the interview, our media doesgo a bit hard at times. But he needs to take a chill pill.
