I was thinking the same thing after last night's game.

Season is basically over, so let's use the remaining games to try out some combos - and maybe make ourselves a bit less predictable to opposition defences and game plans.

Wont happen. When I saw Jnr coming back on yesterday with 30 to go I knew we were going back in time.

we have little to no money going into 24, our squad is 80% locked in and probably 90% of the cap values, so there is no point punting BA before the season as anyone new coming in now had no $$ or latitude to change the squad.

Bells were going off at the start of the year yet we were told nothing to see here.

If we dared to raise the obvious points that we were one win from five and that our defence and attack looked like the team hadnt even trained together in the off season, we were told that we were panic merchants.

where are those people hiding now ? Where are all the BA lovers?

The NRL membership page has a bunch of clubs who have not released their numbers, however ours is shown as 32,376.

I'm annoyed at how our season has panned out, too, and at BA's "tactics" - but for a little perspective:

Matterson missed 4 weeks (it's irrelevant why, he just did)
Lane has missed most of the season
RCG has had 2 lengthy periods of missed game time
Sivo has been rubbed our for a bit
Greig copped a long-term injury
Hodgson has been out for a long time (whether that's good, or not, is irrelevant to this point)
Brown stupidly got himself suspended for a third of the season

That's a hell of a lot of disruption.

It's not an excuse, but I think most teams would struggle if they faced similar levels of disruption to their season.

This is the worst season - at least, in terms of sheer bad luck with our roster - since 2003, when we had no fit front-rowers at the club.

They're not excuses - they're mitigating factors.

Pretty much the only team that might not struggle with the amount of disruption we have had is Penrith, and that's more of a testament to their incredible juniors system, more than anything else.

We have not had our best 17 available all season long - that's a huge hurdle to overcome.

In fact, it's been so bad, we've had to fill roster spots with average toilers like Davey, and Ofahengaue.
