Rumours and Stuff

Just turned 22 and lost a full season to a knee reco....
Bevans 21 and viewed as a rookie while it feels like Gutherson is a seasoned NRL player. He had 5 games prior to joining the eels.

When at 5/8 his partner was Robson. With Norman there he should look better. If the coaching staff think he is good enough to be in the halves long term they should persist for the full season. Cutting guys from a role after 6-7 games is not going to improve them.
Stop talking sense, Hindy. It confuses me.

Some of you guys are way harsh on Gutho.
He was outstanding in the halves last season guven that he was a bloke filling in there.
Give him a dominant halves partner (ie Norman), and he will flourish this year. He has absolutely all the skills. I still remember the commentary team in disbelief at the things he could do.

As has been said, an off season learning how to play in thre halves and he has every tool necessary to be a solid first grade half. Potential wise he could be a rep half if he gets it all together.

Also, athletically he is like the fittest bloke in the squad, and one of the quickest over 100m. Good grief some of the experts in here....

Is he really one of the quickest over 100?

Im a massive Gunco fan .... but he does come across as, well, unco at times. But i love his one on one defense, his decepively skillful ability and his great work ethic.

I reckon he can definitely make a good half .... So glad we signed him for a few more years

I am a Gutha supporter too. I'm all for him to have first crack at 6 as he has the brains to do it.

I'm just saying he has to improve in those areas.

He reminds me of Cliinton Schickoske

We'll certainly see how good a half either Gutherson or Norman are with one of them going to have to play on the right and pass left to right.

When I referred to Gutherson as being a footballer not an athlete, I never meant he wasn't fit / strong / quick.

I was trying to make the point that he was a "smart" player footy wise as opposed to a lot of players that don't have a lot of footy "sense" and just rely on being big / strong etc etc

You hear commentators talk about it all the time ............"he is a real footballer"

Falou = athlete

Our recruitment as behind as it was become focussed on persisti g with these big hulking muscles balls in the juniors. Most others clubs had moved past the fact that these guys usually fizzle out. Of course some work out but i recall lavaka, falou, goodal all being part of the backline and all overhyped

One club and I do not like to mention specific clubs names or single out other teams but they recruited juniors with skill over athletes. Basically a guy with great experience came in and changed there outlook. And now their first grade team is reaping the rewards and play some brilliant attacking footy rather then your boring grinding type. that's is what you get with more athletes.
We seem to be doing the same thing ( 5 yrs later )
