you have to feel for the knights they are already struggling and now they are losing one of their best players to a team that doesn't even need him

the broncos are turning into manly back in the silvertails days the only difference is instead of stacking their lower grades with quality they now have to let a few plodders go to make it look good
well the knights dont have to say yes

Because they are paid overs and it's f**king up their cap!!

Yeah I agree they need some experienced players as they do have some good young talent.

For example ( not suggesting this is exactly the type of players needed by the knights), the eels over the last two years have had experienced players in Gordon, Ge gois and Robson and they would all be on bugger all ( probably less then $200k with Robson probably the minimum)

Exactly right. Newcastle need a cleanout and Brown is giving them one. He'd be over the moon to lose an overrated bloke like Sims and have someone else pay most of his deal. Sims is an ok player, but you can probably pick up someone just as good for half the price or so. Brown realises they have some quality kids, and he's chased others (like Ponga) to build for the future. Sims isn't really going to get better, he isn't really a leader, he's on a good deal for what he delivers, why not cut him loose?

It's unfortunate for the Knights that a thorough rebuild means sacrificing a few seasons of results, but that's the way it goes after years of terrible management sadly.

The one they really, truly need to see the back of is Mullen.

By paying overs to Ponga? Hope it works out for them, get feeling it will.
Both halves are over paid. Hodgo is only a slight upgrade on robo. Other then his kicking game, ordinary in every other area. Tyrone roberts would of been better option

Won't be overs if he lives up to the hype. It's only Corey Norman money, Ponga is Hayne/Thurston level potential.

Well perhaps he can reach that level, but surely not before he is about 21/22 when most of his contract is already over.

Yeah but that's what Brown will be building towards. That gives him 2-3 years of paying Ponga overs, but 2-3 years in which he can attract quality players to play alongside the best junior in the game at the moment. Newcastle are in a position where they have to start this rebuild somewhere, and they have to pay overs anyway. It's much better to pay overs to a potential superstar than a known plodder because if he's even as good as Corey Norman it's not going to be overs for long.
