Those in the know are saying Fleggs best performance of the year was V The Brave Chooks the week the "Gun" Fleggers were promoted into the 2s which will make Saturdays game extremely interesting. That being the case Id like to think we know which ones to keep which may not be as obvious as it appears. Nice to have choice I suppose. Cant wait for Sats game.

I am not in the know with Flegg at all I have watched the kids when possible from Ball into Flegg this year and we do have a really good bunch coming through.

There is more than 10 players currently in the side that could go onto first grade in the next few season IF they continue to work.

Bringing a majority of them through together from Ball to Flegg was perfect for all the players development. It's one thing the Panthers have tried to do as this helps build combinations.

When has that ever worked out... He will be gone as soon as he can.

Like I said, if the coach can get them playing well, then it will change his attitude. If not he will keep agitating obviously. But the coach can't just roll over since there is no other quality option available.

You don't need quality options. As mentioned the Dogs purchased quality but their team culture sucks...

You need to build the team culture first. or just waste time and money like the dogs throwing cash at the problem and not fixing it..

What you need (and what the dogs need) is a quality halfback.

With all our losses I would expect at least 2 x Smith quality backs, or, at least one strike player! Think Best, Staggs, Lomax etc. f**k this mediocre stuff we’ve cleaned a LOT of shit out. I’m expecting big signings .
It’s possible that the salaries of those released players have already been spent on upgrades to the merkins we’ve re-signed in the past twelve months. Most of it anyway.

You'll be disappointed. We will concentrate on the kids coming thru which I am happy about

‘Height of stupidity’: NRL great blasts Valentine Holmes over photo

NRL star Valentine Holmes has come under fire from an NRL great — and former teammate — over a since deleted social media post.

Valentine Holmes has come under fire over a photo on social media that has since been deleted.

The Queensland State of Origin cult hero was seen in a picture appearing with a small bag of white powder in his mouth.

With an investigation into the photo underway by the North Queensland Cowboys and the NRL Integrity Unit, the hits have kept coming in for Holmes.
None harder than that of NRL great Paul Gallen who hit out at Holmes’ “stupidity” in an exclusive column for Wide World of Sports.
Holmes and Gallen were teammates at the Sharks when Cronulla ended its premiership drought in 2016.
“When I was told Holmes had actually posted the photo himself to his own social media page I almost couldn’t believe it,” Gallen wrote.
“What a dumb thing to do. It’s basically the height of stupidity if that is what actually happened.”

Gallen stated the contents of the bag remain unknown, but says he can’t believe another NRL player has been dragged into a scandal as a result of a social media post.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – social media is a trap and footy players fall into it far too often,” he wrote.
“Know when to put the phones down boys.”
According to The Daily Telegraph, Holmes will insist it was just a joke and that he did not use cocaine or any other illicit substance.

“Holmes has told those close to him that the image was a puerile prank gone wrong. He will reiterate that sentiment to Cowboys hierarchy and NRL integrity-unit chiefs on Monday, adamant he did not partake in any drug-taking activity,” the Courier Mail reported.
The Cowboys released a statement confirming they were aware of the photo and would assist the integrity unit with their investigation.
“The North Queensland Cowboys are aware of a photo posted to social media by a Cowboys player this morning,” the statement said.“The club is conducting an investigation as well as assisting the NRL Integrity Unit.
“The Cowboys will make no further comment until the investigations are completed.”
The photo was first shared on Holmes’ own personal Instagram account and has since been taken down.

That's the impression I get. I hope injuries and suspensions are kind to us next year. Or some of the older kids like JJBM and brazel are ready to play some fg next season.

Why would he want to stay here but with Moses and Brown locked in. Smart move really

How is it a smart move going to Canberra?

Penrith were interested in signing him going to them is a smart move if you want a first grade gig. The last 2 backup halves have been signed up to start at other clubs.
