Have you ever played a GF? Some players are better treating as life or death and some as treating as any other game.

In my opinion you don't treat it as any other game you need to put it on a pedestal or your players won't appreciate the game or week leading up to it and also the following seasons where you need to back it up

I have. A few actually. Thanks for asking though. I know we did extra training during the week. I remember my coaches telling us it's not another game. It's special being in GFs. It's not another game.

I have also played in a few. My best performances were when I did treat them just as normal games. Only team where coach forced team to treat different, extra training, etc. we lost final 2 years in a row with several star players absolutely shitting themselves.

True every game should be a big game but then when you get to the big dance like last year the Panfers stepped up another gear and we thought it was just another game.


I don't agree with extra training sessions or anything extra during the week.

But the game is bigger than any other and you need to respect it.
