MON is too busy chasing bargains and picking up the trash at Narrabeen to get down to cronulla. And talk to someone that can actually add value to the team.
Maybe those kinda signings would cost $400 x 3 years and not be value for money and stifle our pathways ?

The best backs are those playing for unders like Farnsworth and Arthurs last night. You ideally need a.production line of those types rolling through. The cap will make them leave, then you bring the next one up.

We don't want to be one of those clubs that are playing big coin for Farnsworth, we want to be letting him go after 2/3 years because of cap pressure.

Yeah easier said than done, I know.

How does signing Harper help the team in 2024?

We apparently tried to sign him for this season but he knocked us back and now because no NRL side wants him he is happy to come to us?

How does that show us as a fan he is here to win and buy in for the club and isn't just here chasing the $$$$$$$$.

Does anyone actually know who is head of recruitment? Who has the final say? Because the amount of spoon like signings of late is bordering in sabotage.

They can’t be that inept when they look at players and what they can bring to our club.

It seems that who ever is making these recruitment calls is not looking for talent but a price point to fill a roster spot.

Id rather have an up and comer taking a roster spot than a piece of crap player who has no future. (And I’m only talking about the playing ability of Harper not the man himself)

Shit show signings like this is how we turn into the Tigers, Bulldogs, Dragons.

Isn't that Ben Rogers our recruitment manager?

But our Recruitment and Retention team would ultimately sign off on any signings.

I am assuming here that the R&R team would include BA, MON, Rogers..

We seem to be signing alot of Manly rejects lately...

Whatever we are doing isn’t working. We have been talking the same shit since f**king 1986. This premiership drought from a club like ours is a disgrace. Now a former little brother has overtaken us.

We are an abomination.

Some people here think I am to negative, but I see that my feelings and sentiments have caught fire and I have many friends of late.

We will never win a premiership again while any of us here are still alive.

Sounds preposterous and outrageous? Well we will see. I'm feeling lucky and I would put one of my houses on it if I could.

Really do the future projection?

Next season is a wash...we have no backs so you can forget it right? I mean our forwards are beginning to yoyo and struggle under the weight of not having any genuine help in carries or speed to burn tight defenses game in game out.

So that leaves us with a roster that will need some real quality input for 2025. Where does that come from since our juniors are almost always over rated and we lose so many of them to our rivals anyway?

BA will eventually get the flick probably in 2026 when the hierarchy panic at our failing roster that has aged without any real young quality added to it. By 2026 Gutho will be a broken man and Moses will be in his best years as a football head, but not have the cattle around him to give him a Reynolds type of chance at the title, so will look more like a busted arse half trying to hard and or then not trying at all.

So now we are at 2027 and we have gone in and bought a new coach. Who here thinks he will be elite? I sure hell don't so then fast forward to 2030 and the cycle will start again, only this time there won't be any quality half that we can build a roster around, I don't think Brown will be that man and anyway I think if he is still quality by 2027-8 he will be looking to go to a roster that can give him a genuine shot at a title anyway, like most halves end up doing.

So we are now on the tread mill once again searching for that magic half that you can build a roster around. Do you need a magic half, no you don't, but then you also need a management team that prioritizes winning silverware and that my friends we don't have. We give plenty of lip service to it but deed wise we only offer token support and resources. The heavyweights that win the titles spend and buy big and the best there is available. When was the last time this club stopped big noting itself and actually did some major spending and buying of the best?

As long as they seem to be doing ok and we hover around the 8 most years, we will be a successful club in their eyes that eventually will have our day in the sun. But the way I see it, unless we fluke a crop of out and out superstars that no other club pick off (impossible in todays world of competitive sport) we will linger forever in the also rans or close but no cigar zone forever.

Coaches and high input resources win you trophies in the modern world of sport. These are the two things we seldom seek and instead look for bargain buys all the time. We don't like going top shelf. Therefore we make do with what's on offer from the tap and hope it keeps us happy and entertained enough to keep coming back.

Most here have been ok with that, even though most mornings after, you have have been nursing a sore and sorry bear head and even a sore and battered arse at times too.

Like I said, does anyone really see us changing our ways after all these years? I mean we would need to actually have savvy and proactive footy personnel running the football department for a start. Just to get that changed and filled with the right people will take years of firing and hiring. We haven't gotten it quite right in 37 years of multiple administrations and cleanouts. So will it ever happen? Sure if we are still standing in 100 years from now, we might just jag a title if everything aligns just right. But the way I see it, it won't be happening in the next 30-50years. We just aren't that type of club. We are a North Sydney-Newtown Jets type. We will give it our all resource wise for a few years, just long enough to get us in the zone of being contenders, but not long enough to get a real hot crack at winning the title unless we get really lucky quick.

Then we will drop off our commitment again and go the bargain hunt root again and so the cycle continues. My money is on the never to see a GF victory again in our lifetime and I think that many of you are coming to the same unfortunate and depressing conclusion too.

Sorry fellas we signed on to supporting a major lemon. I blame Pricey, the bastard was just way to good and sucked in the lot of us!

He apparently knocked back a Super League gig. You'd have to think he was getting more to go there than what we will pay him.

I actually can't see him getting a game. He seems like the type of player that the Head Coach has zero intention of ever puting on the field unless he really has to (i.e. Hayze Perham).

So, our back up outside backs in the Top 30 would now be Dunster, Zini and Harper, aka, Shit, Shitter, and Shittest.

Possibly we don't know how dumb our club is with throwing money at a backup player...

I understand there isn't any decent players available what I don't get is why the club wants to waste money and a top 30 spot on another average player..

You may as well keep Sam Loizou
