Ok, come on. You seriously don’t think he’s had an original thought? I would imagine that someone who goes against the majority would be considered more original than the rest.

And what does it matter if he tries to “justify our mediocrity” as you put it? I can see where he’s coming from. He can see there are issues and tries to understand the problem. I like to think I do the same. The problem seems to be that the majority here think that these problems are easily fixed, which is probably not the case.

If you can find a time when Phantom has conceded an argument because he was shown to be wrong, then I will gladly concede this one.

There aren’t many people on here who do, tbh. You are actually one of the few who do (but then you’ll just change you mind back again a week later).

I'm not naive enough to think our problems are easily solved; however, I just don't see the proof of what the club is trying to do is working.

One club has dominated the NRL for the last 5 years - nobody else has even come close.

Their basic strategy is to use their outside backs to get momentum, and conserve their forwards' energy for defence.

They've been unstoppable.

We seem to be persisting with our own philosophies, which seem to be more linked to eating metres up the guts, and then spinning it wide in the attacking red zone.

Which would be fine - had Penrith not irrefutable demonstrated that this just doesn't work.

Brad persists with his tactics, and while we generally compete for a spot on the top 8, up until last year, we were never a genuine chance of winning the whole thing.

But change is not forthcoming.

I can't speak for everyone else, but THAT is what I find most irritating about his tenure - he keeps persisting with ideas that have been shown to not work, and he does not seem to want to adapt.

I don’t think he goes against the majority for the sake of it. I think he believes what he says.
I quite often agree with him (not always) and I’m happy to argue my point. I don’t catch as much vitriol as he does though, so I guess you guys just don’t like the way he argues. Which is fine, but argue the point instead of attacking him as a person.
I think he has regularly, and been caught out going in circles and arguing a completely opposite view a day later (the definition of arguing for the sake of it) without ever owning it.

The guy's been attacking all and sundry on here for a decade rather than just sticking to arguing his point, so imo it's a bit rich of the deluded troll to cry victimisation when it's his turn.

I think Pou just likes to think and post in a rational (non-emotive) way and that irks posters who are more passionate in their posts.
Like I said yesterday (and ended up being called a green haired skirt wearing cat loving faker houso with a victim complex
lol.gif
) when they run out of footy words, they go after him personally.

It's not his fault they choose road rage. They could drive right on by....

Are we looking at Charlie Staines or Billy Smith? They’d both be better than Harper.

Apparently Smith is staying at the Roosters.

With Staines I am certain the club see Sivo and Russell as the wingers for 2024. Does he come to play Cup? as a backup?

It makes life so much easier when you just ignore Pou Pou he isn't on my ignore list I just don't reply or engage. I laugh at the repeated garbage and ignore him.

Just switching lanes for a bit.
Im on the train on my way home from seeing "Tina" The Musical.
A bit of a sad story but OMG the concert at the end was unbelievable. Words fail me. Indescribably good. The woman is a nuclear explosion.
What you get is what you see.

No I think the majority here think that it shouldn't take 37+ years of same old same old excuses with no end in sight.

Both reasons mate. Also injuries and the mentality of couldn't be f**ked with all the training anymore too.

Speed is another reason as well. Some players lose that initial explosion late 20's early 30's too and if that was their main attribute then they are cactus.

Sivo has always been on the slower side for a winger, so that isn't his main problem, but who knows if he loses even half a yard in the next season or two then he will be a real lump out there and almost totally useless.

But Sivo's main problem has always been his lack of effort and his dumbness in positional play. But his lack of true hard nosed effort is his main problem. He ambles back into the defensive line when carrying the ball in such a non threatening or intelligent way that the defense just swallows him up. Also for a guy that basically had the best palm in the NRL he seems to have forgotten he has arms now.

I suggest he go watch Karina Brown the winger from the Titans in the NRLW Grand Final game this year. Her awesome and brilliant direct runs up the middle of the ruck and her hard carries getting them out of trouble from their end was a lesson all back 5 players should study. She isn't all that big either, just average size. Smart and direct running in between and behind tiring markers is the key at pace and with purpose. If players used their heads a little more there are always great opportunities to be exploited. She showed in that game what many other players don't do, she used her head and nailed them every time she ran the ball. She got them out of trouble almost every time she ran.

Like I said Sivo needs to watch that game and model his game on that type of involvement and effort. It doesn't take super speed or fancy foot work. It just relies on getting in there quick and running straight and hard. Surely even he can do that. But not at runners, but between and around them as much as possible with purpose and hard, with absolutely no hesitation. That was the key. She gave the opposition very little time to even know she was coming at them. Not because she is overly quick, but because she was ready and determined with a purpose to do it and beat the man. Brilliant running. Hard, straight most times, and with gusto and purpose to get the ball past a certain defender/s and make the yards. She nailed it.
Yep, he’s as helpful as an ashtray on a motorcycle

Is Stains really an option? It does exactly fill my pencil with lead.

Please give us fans an out of nowhere surprise Parra with a strike back!
