He assaulted a woman multiple times (including choking her), and also stalked and intimidated her (including threats to kill her) over a period of time. In my opinion he’s a maggot and I don’t want him anywhere near this club.
Agreed, he’s in the Matt Lodge category. Just filth. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near RL.

Violence against women or anyone should be banned for life.

I don't know how Russell Packer was allowed back in the NRL.
If you can play rugby league clubs will sign them up.

Some don't care if your axe murderer or not they just want to win games.

Matt Lodge being allowed back was and always will be the biggest disgrace this game has ever done.

The bloke has proven since coming back he is a cancer how many clubs have punted him since he came back and more keep signing him up.

He has been at more clubs then he had cellmates.

The bubbler was the final straw. There was:

- Drink driving and reckless driving
- A police pursuit while he was disqualified
- Pissing on a bloke in a nightclub
- A vandalism spree in Goulburn where he damaged a car and a shopfront
- Set a man’s pants on fire causing burns
I thought the third item on that list came directly after the fifth item and he was only trying to help put the unfortunate fellow out....

I agree. A conviction for violence against women should be a life ban. I’d go as far as to say a conviction for violence against anyone should be a lengthy ban.
It’s a game where dudes bash each other. Any of them could potentially run afoul of the law using violence to control their environment. It’s in their nature. Obviously some have worse self control than others, especially on the drink.

It is in everyone's (Especially men) nature.

Footballers aren't biologically different to a Coles worker.

Does the NRL have higher instances of violence (outside of work) than most other occupations? If so, I would argue its a cultural, lack of education problem.

People who are good at violence are conditioned from early childhood to be more likely to use it to resolve problems. We also learn from a young age that at least some people look down on violence as a problem solving tool, but then many others find it impressive/attractive, including some women. I agree it’s a cultural issue but not at the level of the employer. You learn it from family and community, and changing your views requires a certain rejection of your heritage.

Just on the Curtis Scott comment. Reading the article it seems he has taken complete ownership of his behaviour and is in total remorse. He doesn’t drink and goes to AA meetings.
He has requested he has a no alcohol clause in a contract by his own request.
At 26 years years old he is asking for a bare minimum deal and permission from NRL.
A premiership winning centre…Sounds like the perfect project.
When did he apologise to his victim?
