Treated the same way? How? Ben Matulino never played a game in reggies and was picked just about every game prior to being medically retired. Chris Macqueen broke his neck before coming to the Tigers and yet saw out his whole contract at the Tigers, in reserve grade where he belonged because he was no good after his injury. Packer played out his entire Contract at the Tigers and played some reserve grade because he was a spud and that was his level. Noone signed him afterwards.



Tigers did not create the problem at all. Yes they are overpaying him but that is not the problem. him not showing up to training and crying to the RLPA is the problem which is not related to his paycheck. He SHOULD be playing reggies because despite the fact that we have no depth in our outside backs, there are at least 4 players better than him at the moment and what message does it send to a 19yo kid in the squad that this lazy 30yo gets picked despite not putting yet you are expected to bust your arse?

The previous Tigers management signed him to a stupidly overpriced contract because of other clubs "interest". A truly ridiculous amount for a winger who has been nothing more than a consistent tryscorer in a poor team.

They then realised their mistake and have tried multiple times in the past two seasons to move him on.

This is a similar situation to the likes of Matulino, Packer, Farah and Reynolds. It is a consistent trait of the Tigers and comes about from coaches being signed and released in a short time. Sure, MacQueen, Matulino and Packer were able to see out contracts but not through a lack of trying to move them on and not because of some kind hearted move by Tigers management. No one wanted them because of the stupid contract terms they had signed - exactly the same reason why Nofoaluma hasn't been able to be moved.

I do not condone Nofoaluma's behaviour. Its quite stupid and is as much a reason for him not being able to be moved on as it is the ridiculous contract. However, the Tigers have created the situation by signing him and allowing him to coast in the past and now he is reacting to them playing hardball.

It's about time that they did but its two years too late.

Incorrect. He was signed to a stupidly overpriced contract because he is a close family friend of the previous Chairman.......but go on tell me more.....

Woah, back up a step....you specifically said that they were all treated the same way. Explain for me how they were all treated the same way as David Nofoaluma?

If you are saying that Nofo, Reynolds, Packer were all signed on overinflated Contracts that didnt turn out well for the Tigers......well duh....

Poor David Nofoaluma. Those bad Tigers paid him too much money. Not sure how he will ever get over it and not showing up to training is obviously a totally understandable reaction to being overpaid.

Please explain to me how "trying to offload him for two years", playing him in reggies and loaning him out to Storm equals "allowing him to coast in the past"?

Let me get this straight....its the Tigers fault but its about time.

Sometimes, its just the players fault. Nofa isnt being sacked for being overpaid. he is being sacked for being a weak peanut and a cancer on club culture. Club is in the right on this one for once.

I though lt Noafaluma was just about the best winger in the game. Atleast top 3 or 4. I remember Parra showing interest and I was hoping we landed him.
Since he signed his new deal things went down hill. I think it's silly to say he was average. He was killing it.

Long time ago. He excels in finding a camera after a try, not the worst finisher. Unbelievably bad defender, hates hard work, will run 30m laterally to make 5m to avoid contact. Happy to publicly berate inside team mates for his defensive shortcomings.

It looks like they might have created a hostile work environment for him, as evidenced by their eagerness to get his contract off their salary cap.

I agree with you that he should worry about the things he can control, like turning up to training sober, but modern workplace relations and the focus on mental health aren’t going to make this easy for the Tigers. Best case for both parties might be if they sack him for minimal on-cap payout, and then pay him some sort of damages outside the cap. Nofoaluma will probably be happy to retire.
