We need to fix our NSW CUP structures and have our first choice back up guys playing in their positions. It isn't musical chairs.
This way if they are called to.come in they already know their role.

Having MArthur play 20+ games in reggies at hooker (and possibly a handful off the bench in firsts? Or starting if Lussick misses a few?), then maybe he is the guy.

I agree with @hindyabout playing guys in their position - but I also think play the most talented guys in their position first.
I have never really rated Hands though - just because he was better than a washed Hodgson didn't stop the club trying desperately ro find someone else. I personally would prefer not to see Hands near FG again....

As did I b4 the weekend. I thought Lussick was great V The Sea Starlings. Hands was average at 6 in the 2s as was young Mrthur. I worry about our 2s as a development destination for our best kids. As a coach I reckon Nayless makes a great retro jersey model.

Maybe they should stop dipping into Ron Massey, try Flegg or recruit some genuine players to support the sprinkling of decent kids coming through. TBH I thought that flicking Wenty and having our own NSW Cup side was a great move, but not if we are not going to spend any $$ on it.

Moses being out for a while is far from ideal, obviously.

But the good news is we still have Brown, and Gutherson, who can continue the ball-playing.

Our long kicking game will suffer - perhaps Joey will kick more of our dummy-half to compensate?

Be interesting to see how we line up, with a few key players out.

Not for me as we dominated alot of possession. When we're in a dour struggle, he'll tire as will anyone else. Hands is younger and fitter. In the pre-season, he is one of the front few leading the runs.

From the past games I've watched, things seems faster with Hands there. I also notice a few times last week where Lussicks passes are a bit high before the kicker (moses) catches it. Moey has to jump a bit to catch it, land and then kick.

It’s reserve grade ffs. It’s for youngsters to develop and older merkins to stay fit (or get burnt out like Junior Paulo does after 24 games).

It’s a tough one. Ideally yes, they play the position they most likely to be required at NRL level. But if the alternative actual reserve graders are worse in those key positions and the team is going shit, what impact does that have on the individual development?

To be fair on reserve grade.
We made some bad decisions on sub standard players who are hurting our ability to compete there.
We also have dudes out in firsts, which means our 2nds are playing up, and then the backups to the backups (AMS and DickyP) are also out.

Then we hit a Manly side who are bringing back a bunch of guys through the 2nds....

Of course, it doesn't help that Cayless seems to be out of his depth
