He was a fullback, kicked 742 goals in 13 years which is amazing.

He only scored 11 tries ? How can that be right ?

Fullbacks in the sixties were not the attacking weapons they are now..The game was played under an unlimited tackle room, and it wasn't until 1962 that Frank Drake became the first fullback to score a try in a Test match. Of course, the Mayor (I have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord) Ken Thornett, managed to score the first try by a fullback in England - and went onto score a try from fullback against every Rugby League nation (England, France, New Zealand, South Africa) and in every series in which he played...Ken Thornett THE MAN.jpg

Keith Barnes played at the tail end of an era where fullback was an almost exclusively defensive position. Players like Thornett and Johns were part of a new breed of fullbacks who chimed into a backline movement and we're far more influential in attack. Also, Barnes was not especially fast. He was good enough to play for Australia, but could never be considered an attacking fullback. Hence the lack of tries.

Ooh really???

That's not what you said btw
Of course it is, its exactly what I said. If you have to do more defence, and more difficult defence from further down field than usual and as I explicitly said...it all adds up... then you are going to fatigue and lose shape and miss tackles from everywhere on teh field, in fact more likely up their end because the defeence is often staggered when chasing a kick compressed or shortened wingers have dropped back late in the count.

What I said makes sense wrt long range tries.

What do you want him to do?
(I'm not saying he's good or bad - just curious as to why he warrants the rage)

For me, that dudes job is to make lots of $$, and spend lots of $$, and hold others accountable on the footy side of things.
He is making lots of $$ (tick)
I have no idea on the accountability side of things? We made a GF in 2022, so it's not unreasonable that Arthur is still in charge. However, one might also expect (after the debacle of last year) that there is a very clear expectation set for this year. If we don't comfortably make the 8, and nothing changes, then I think it's pretty clear the CEO has missed a trick.

But truly, what we want is a CEO who oversees the business, makes sure we are profitable (and with ever increasing revenues), and stays out of the football managers play-space. This is on MON and BA (currently).

He’s an amateur. Buck stops with him and the people he hires. Jim’s Mowing needs to get Get the hell out if he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

One big difference i see is we still have a quality halfback something we lacked in those years.

We had Mortimer, Kris Keating, Robson, Sandow, Luke Kelly, Ben Roberts.

If Moses plays 20+ games in a season we should be playing finals.

He only played 19 games last year and this year he wont get to 20.

It's our forwards that are letting us down right now and in particular RCG is off the pace a little this year and the rest haven't picked up the slack bar Junior who has been exceptional this season at what he is good at.
