NRL rules do not allow contracted players to move clubs for less money than they are worth under the salary cap.

Arthur declined to comment on negotiations with Lomax. But Eels sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the confidential nature of talks, indicated that the club’s offer will be worth around $650,000 – $700,000.

The NRL has indicated that any difference between Lomax’s Dragons deal and a Parramatta contract would typically be carried in the Eels’ cap as his new club.
I really just can't wrap my head around the logic here. If the Dragons have agreed to end his contract for the next two seasons then he isn't under contract, so why would anyone be forced to carry this imaginary value on their cap if he signs for less than what he would have been getting? I'd almost guarantee this rule wouldn't exist if he was going to the Roosters or the Broncos.

If there really is a rule about not signing for less than some arbitrary value, it doesn’t mean that value is the same as what he is on at the Dragons.

Its just wrong the Gus works in the media and GM for an NRL club, he can influence deals that other clubs can potentially make.

Big example of conflict of interest if I've ever seen one.
What about his weekly rants about the bunker and the refs on his show.

If a coach or say a MON says that it's an automatic breach notice and fine.

It's ridiculous what he can get away with under the guise of a media role.

Robbo loves to get stuck into other players at pressers, but puts up a tent around his own.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson has defended the club’s decision to privately celebrate Michael Jennings’ 300th game, despite the NRL veteran being found guilty of sexual assault in civil court.

He’s not even been convicted and they want him to never work again.
Yes he has mate, by the courts of public opinion. That's enough these days.
Optics. Robo should know how to chose his words better. If he doesn't then he should ask. If he is not smart enough to ask, then the Roosters media minder should brief him before he says dumb things. If he doesn't take the advice of the media manager, then he shouldn't do media.
