THEY “did almost nothing” BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF CAP SPACE FFS!!! How hard is that to understand? Building a premiership window requires having a significant portion of your squad on unders. If you can’t do that by offering TPAs, ‘investment opportunities’ or players willing to take less because they want to stay in Melbourne, you need to do it through contract timing. Timing contracts (generally back ending) means that there comes a point where many contracts suddenly mature and very few players are on unders any more. This forces merkins out of the squad. You’ll only replace them with other merkins either just as cheap but not on unders (e.g. Lussick) or just as good but also on unders (e.g. Hopgood, Russell). But getting merkins for less than they’re worth is no exact science. There is always an element of luck.

I caught a glimpse of Barrett's face a few times in the coach's box, and he looked petrified.

I reckon they told him prior to the game that if we lost, BA was gone, and he'd be taking over.

It's only natural that Baz would have some stress with a Head Coaching role, given how his last roles ended.

Seriously - Ivan Cleary's left nut is a better coach than BA.

Barrett legitimately can't do worse.

The comp is so weak I reckon if Penrith have their spine and front row intact come Semis they are still the team to beat.

I wish we had our 21-22 team playing as they were back then, even with their deficiencies we would massacre the Riff this year.

Depends on which team comes to play. The one which knows where the bus stop is or the one that gets their mates to drive them.
