Huh ? Ok rewind. You don’t like the 3+2+2 option or however it is set up. What do you prefer we did ?
Doesn’t seem to make any difference, he leaves when he feels like it . The option was offered by the club as a long term deal to a player that came up through our junior program, turns out it’s what it is. Probably a 2/3 year contract.

I think if any junior decides to leave the club they came up through the ranks with, it is going to be for money or because they have been let down by the club (look at Galvin's dissatisfaction with Tigers signings around him).
A player option won't stop that.

It does however give the player the option and security of staying at a pre-agreed price, if they lose form and/or get injured.

Whether the contract is 3+2+whatever or just 3 years only with no options, they will leave if they want to or if they don't get an offer to stay for that they believe they are worth.

Yep, every reason to be dissatisfied with the signings around him, given they are non existent. At least we are seeing DeGois get the junior recruitment on task, despite higher up the chain not retaining some elite local juniors.

I think Dylan would be a different player with a better backline and better forwards.
Our forwards haven't dominated for 18mths. Our backline has regressed. And let's face it Gutho whilst still safe is the worse attacking fullback in the comp. He offers zero threat.

So what's your beef if it doesn't matter ?

Probably good backup player to be honest he is fast so he could play as forward or if there is an injury during the game play in the centres.

That's valuable, especially in our team when every edge forward we have would be more comfortable at prop than centre

100% we don't have enough speed out wide in attack or defence.

If Kelma last night had a step on him last night instead of trying to keep running over Walker he would have scored a try or 2 last night.

If Dylbo wants to go he can go at the end of this season, no point holding onto a $900k 5/8th who puts in for 20mins a game who has one foot out the door

shame he didn’t make this decision earlier in the year and we could have looked to keep ethan in the 5/8th role with Moses. But guessing his agitation is born from BA going who protected him despite his off field issues and sporadic form

not sure what 5/8ths are floating around for 25, but we could consider Gutho there with Blaize or Lomax at 1

Quick point, how can you plan forward on cap and other things if you have to wait annually for a player to make a decision, that is always assuming there is a plan .

Taking guidance from the major US sports and their GMs. Player options are what desperate clubs need to do, OR offer a chance for a player to opt out for a higher pay day. The second part is not relevant as it is a reference under a soft cap scenario.

A player option is exactly what it sounds like: something in favour of the player and not the club. Referring to US sports again, some of the commonly regarded 'guru' GMs will not sign a player with a player option.

Obviously it is something to consider if it means bringing an outstanding player to the club, but I wonder about the number of them we have (had?)

Annually ? What are the exact terms of option post 2025 ? Is it sourced anywhere?
