If we have the chance to replace Foran with Hayne we go for it. Foran goes down as our worse signing in history - PERIOD.
The fact we got a get out of JAIL card means even if Hayne does not play as good as he was we are still miles infront.
I do not see the issue or problems. Unless he costs 1.5 million. If Hayne doesn't sign with us and we have say 1.5-1.8 mill to spend what do we do? Players have to be available to sign. If we want to upgrade our forward pack then we need to try and get rid of guys who are under contract, which a lot of times means us paying them to play elsewhere.
Our top 25 is almost full already. The addition of HAYNE and a good PROP would complete us. Shaun Lane and the guy from Souths would be top of my list.
So if we do not replace FORAN with a big name player we will have to look at these guys who are in our top 17/18-

Terepo
Mannah
Alvaro
Wicks
Kaysa

I do not see any point getting rid of MANU -KE-Tepai- or Scott.

We only have 17 players (officially) contracted for next year and we need to buy another top 17 halfback (minimum $300k worth). If the other seven players we sign are all on minimum salary ($82500), and that's highly unlikely anyway, that's almost $900k (minimum) still to spend, and probably a lot more.

If Pou and Bart/Phantom are against Haynes return it's all the proof i need for him to return to us in the Blue and Golds. We'll probably win a comp and they would still be debating the value of him to the club......
Well Hayne's last stint did see us rolling in silverware and playing regular finals footy... oh, wait.

And the guy's not even a half.

Kent & Ikin seriously don't understand how league works. They've just said it's impossible for us to sign Hayne for this year, as we'd have to release Foran, and we can't release Foran unless he is signing with another club, which he can't do as its post June 30! His contact it void if we agree to his request, we are not transferring him to another club! Dead set morons.

They all agree he shouldn't be allowed to play for us.

Kent also said even though we've lost 12 points, if we make the finals we actually haven't received a punishment. Apparently all the NRL have done is reduce us to an equal position as the other teams chasing a spot in the 8, so therefore it's not a punishment at all

To be fair to that poor kent most fans of other clubs reckon we haven't been punished enough and got off scott free and should be booted out of the comp

Haven't heard not one rival fan say we deserve to be booted. Heard plenty say there's dodgy deals everywhere, and we're unfortunate to get done for them.

Anyway, Ikin and Kent are two of the dumbest merkins around. If Ikin never started slapping bennetts daughter, would he even have a job in the media???

They even took our premiership rings off us, unlike the other cheating merkins. Enough is enough, we're sorry for denying other clubs premierships over the previous few years

Parramatta Eels will step up plans to lure Jarryd Hayne back to the club if they beat Penrith

Parramatta will step up plans to lure Jarryd Hayne to the club this year if they can overcome Penrith on Sunday afternoon.

The Eels have begun to make inquiries about what it would take to get Hayne to the club for the remainder of the season, however the plan won't get off the ground if they failed to keep their slim finals hopes alive with a win against the Panthers in the local derby at the foot of the mountains.

The NRL will allow any club to sign Hayne for this season on the proviso the former San Francisco 49ers running back agrees to a multi-year deal.

However given Parramatta's predicament, it is understood the NRL will require club officials to cease its feud with the governing body and commit to governance reforms to rebuild the club before allowing them to sign Hayne for the remainder of 2016.

Hayne, who missed out on Olympic selection, had his final training session with his Fiji sevens teammates on Tuesday and could be back in Sydney as early as Wednesday to discuss his future.

His manager Wayne Beavis is leaving all options open, including a stint in rugby union, however the opportunity to earn $200,000 for seven games and potentially lead the Eels back to the finals could prove tempting for the code-hopping superstar whose income has been limited since leaving rugby league.

It would rely on the Eels granting Kieran Foran the release he requested on compassionate grounds, freeing up money in the salary cap to pursue Hayne.

His close friend and Eels club captain Tim Mannah understands why Hayne has to explore all the possibilities and wouldn't begrudge him if he decided to chase the money.

"The landscape for professional sport has changed a lot over the years," Mannah said.

"It's no longer just playing for a pie and coke with a team and your mates. There's a livelihood there. He's gone a whole year now without a proper salary as well. There's definitely an aspect there where he needs to make some money as well."

Mannah, who is in regular contact with Hayne, would love to see the former Eels No.1 return to the club but admitted he could do with a rest for the remainder of the year given what he has had to endure over the past two months.

"To be honest I think he needs some space to get over, one, the disappointment of missing out on the [Olympic] squad," Mannah said.

"But two, just to have the breathing space to relax. He's had a really intense five weeks with the mountain loads he's done at training. I think we would probably respect the fact that he needs a break. If he decides differently and wants to do something [now] then every club would want him."

Hayne's relationship with Mannah is one of the main attractions of returning to Parramatta given their close connection from their junior days together at the club.

However Mannah insists he won't be getting involved despite his desire to see Hayne back in the blue and gold.

"I definitely wouldn't use my friendship with Jarryd," Mannah said.

"When it comes to something like this it's a business decision. I know what it's like as a sportsperson as well, as much as you want to make decisions emotion based, you also want the business aspect to it as well. I'd like see him back here but every team in Australia would probably like to have him."

Asked about the prospect of returning home to lead the Eels to a long awaited premiership?

"Wouldn't it be awesome?" Mannah said.
