The game is much better balanced under the salary cap than it was. For example, shit teams can sign star players now. They might have to overpay for them but they can at least get them. Think back to the pre-NRL days. All the best players just moved between the richest half dozen clubs.

Penrith 5 grand finals in a row......hmmmm

The Joash Papalii rumour will be confirmed next week. From what I've heard, we’ve already signed him. His arrival likely confirms Gutherson’s imminent departure, as Papalii can fill the utility role that Ryles had envisioned for Gutherson.
If he comes he will have the mindset of competing for fullback. He is similar to Iongi, might be quicker. No rookie can be guaranteed a spot.

He is very similar to Iongi. Both played a full season in reserve garde this year and had similar stats. Papali'i had better defence and playmaking. Iongi's running stats were much better.

My point was about it not being a restraint of trade. The NRL doesn't have any power to prevent players earning money. It just prevents clubs from accruing competition points if they are spending too much on players, including where they try to circumvent the cap through TPAs.
Jesus christ here we go again.......Why are you talking about competition points in the context of TPA's that have nothing to do with the club.

It is 100% a restraint of trade, a court said it was. It doesnt matter what the NRL does, if the $$$ a player earns through their own means or their own IP, nothing to do with the club, is included in the clubs salary cap, the club wont sign that player and restrain their ability to earn money FFS because the club wants to earn points.

We've seen this with the Storm (2010) and Eels (2016) fiascos that occurred well after the Craig Wing fiasco of 2003.
The Storm and Eels both were involved in those TPA's. The Roosters were not involved in Craig Wings TPA. Big difference. What happened with Wing happens every single season. Where did Moses get this BMW from?

The NRL still needs to be assured that those TPAs aren't associated with the club. If they are not happy (as with Maloney's Keno TPA with the Panthers) it will be counted against the salary cap.

If it's later found that Moses' BMW was a condition of re-signing with Parramatta we will be punished for it.
