I do like reading their reports although you can see they were very BA people and he could do no wrong or it was all fantastic.
Be interesting to see if they have the same access or even do reporting like they have in previous years.
Hope there are some reports as it's a nice parra fill in until footy does return

From the sound of it they also have ratchet clauses.

I reckon that’s pretty normal. Salary cap values for each year should reflect the player’s expected value in those years. If the player isn’t yet at his peak then his contract value should be increasing. If he is past his peak it should be decreasing. This all occurs within the context of a salary cap that is expected to increase every year anyway.

Ultimately what matters is whether the club has a competitive squad. I’m reliably told the club put together a premiership roster that would’ve won a premiership if not for the coach. That means they know how to manage a salary cap.

However managing the cap to assemble a premiership quality roster could mean back ending every merkin, which could be what’s happening now. In that case there’s no point complaining about it. Without the current unbalanced salary cap (if that’s what is happening) we wouldn’t have had such a good roster two/three years ago.

But personally I think there’s nothing wrong with the roster. It’s a solid squad. With a better hooker and another edge forward it’s good enough to sneak into the top four again.
