I love how Paul Kent is complaining about how those clubs that went out an bought a whole bunch of players assuming the cap was going to be a certain amount are now going to be disadvantaged. What about the clubs who listened to the NRL and didn't assume the salary cap was going to be $10M? Should they be disadvantaged?

it makes me physically ill when I heard him on the weekend say that clubs will be punished for being 'Pro active' ...he failed to mention that the NRL told clubs to work within the figure of 9.1...

the guys is merkin of the earth...a true f**kwit.

So FoxSports re-wrote their article and quoted a Phil Gould article which comes from a similar angle.

Then the NRL said ...

Its not 11 teams .... its f**king 14 ffs!!!

Edit: oh ffs, look what happens when you reply before reading that last page ... smfgdfh

I think you are reading into this the wrong way. This is not about rorting.

The accusation is that the NRL originally said that the 2018 cap would be say $11M. Then they retracted that and said that it would be $9.5M. Then $10.2M. (not sure on exact numbers).

So PKent is alleging that 11 teams have gone and spent more than what the 2018 cap will be, hence why they will need to apparently shed players to get under the cap.
Your making the incorrect assumption that the NRL have any f**kin idea about anything!!

It was only a few weeks ago the nrl asked teams to come to them if they have any concerns about being over .... aka the nrl doesnt f**kin know

The problems with these alleged fire sales is that teams will only want to let their fringe players go and hang onto the match winners.

We may pick up some depth players but we already have enough of them.

i'm sure that's the plan but if nobody wants their fringe players then they might have to let go of some match winners to get under the cap

just because they have to sell doesn't mean others have to buy

Why would the NRL register contracts that put clubs over the cap?
Who says contracts are registered? ... theres all this uncertainty - it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if teams have held back registering stuff in the hopes they can fiddle a deal a little if they need to

I dunno. I guess I just thought after the Hoppa thing that player managers would be wary of that and would ensure that the clubs were sending the contracts to be registered by the NRL. f**ked if I know.

Plus no club will have cap room to sign any big name in a fire sale, so the nrl will just adjust the cap accordingly.
