What's the 'big gamble' exactly? He's achieved everything in the game. He is just looking for a retirement fund. He doesn't need to win another premiership. He just needs to get paid. If he goes to another strong club he won't even be made to look bad, but even if he does who cares? He'll get paid, he's still played for Australia and Queensland, and won two premierships plus two Dally M medals.

Playing a year or two too long won't change any of that. It just means he will earn another $1M+

He will make any team stronger but not by as much as some merkins might think. If he went to a shitty club they would just become less shitty. If he went to a mid-table club they wouldn't suddenly become contenders unless halfback was already their weakest area.

it's not just his ability as a player

cronk is one of the best in the league at game management knowing how to pry open defence or get repeat sets and build pressure

if he can pass some of those skills on to your other players whatever you pay for him is money well spent
