What about Don Lane from Manly ?

Sure, but obviously the other two are better at this stage. Lane is a player that needs more game time and more fitness. Have you been watching him? He has been going ok in a shit team. I would love to see him at Parra and see what we a brutal fitness program could do for him. Hell what it could do for the players we have.

It doesn't matter. You just need a club with some business nous and you make him an offer that he can't refuse. Easy to get a quality squad FFS.
They were caught cheating and have to release players, we have cap space why couldn’t we afford a bloke who has played just two games???

I’d hardly think he was on massive money.

Agreed but I don't think he'd be taking up enough of their cap (unless they had a brain explosion) that it'd help them enough to fix any cap issues, plus I think he'd be one of the last they'd want to lose

Yes exactly. Perfect in fact. If for arguments sake, he is on 200k and we offer him 350-400k for example, which he is well worth it and on form is playing closer to a 500k player, then that would be very very tempting for a player like him. To increase your earnings by around 100% at this point of his career he and his manager would be mad not to seriously look at making the move.

On the other hand, the Dogs are in a very difficult position to try and match our offer. Then even if they obviously wouldn't want to let him go, if he got a bee in his bonnet about it, voila, they may have very little choice in the matter. To keep a player that is very unhappy in a team that isn't travelling to well can be an even bigger cancer.

BA can throw even more kindling onto the fire and court him with love and uber praise and respect and outline the wonderful things he could add to his game in a team with great halves and better finishers...e.t.c.

We have seen players and managers do this a million times. The difference is usually arsehole teams are the beneficiaries. It is about time we turned the tables on them while they are vulnerable I say.

Not rocket science, just good smart strong management. Stuff Peter Bullfrog Moore would be proud of.

We also don't know how his current contract is structured though, maybe in 2020 he is earning $500k. And if he is still only earning $200k up to then, him playing shit probably still isn't enough of incentive for Dogs to move him on. What's he going to do? Continue to play shit for another 2 seasons and then hope someone will offer him more again?
Plus I think consistently trying to sway players to break contracts is poor business. Swings & roundabouts, karma and all that. Plus I don't think there's actually that many "arsehole" teams that do it successfully to the point where they get the player early. The only ones I can think of are Canberra with Junior & Leilua and us with Moses.
So barring a brain explosion, already existing player issues (why would they re-sign him if that was the case?) or absolute desperation because almost absolutely no other player can be moved on, then I think he's a pipe dream. Sure you can make enquiries but as an outside observer I won't be slitting my wrists if we neither get him nor if there are never any rumours of us pursuing him
Fualolo would probably be a more realistic target. Eastwood & either of the Morri would probably be gift wrapped and free freight with a giant thank you note

Before we sign anyone we need to work out our squads weakness.

Seems like Prop which i assume Jnr has been signed? Is this 100%?

Now here are some positions to consider and not.
Fullback,Halves are covered.

Needs and options in squad

1- Centre - Do we stick with Jennings/Taka/Auvau/Hayne

2 - Wing - Hayne/Bevan/Gjennings/Auvau/Hoffman

Hooker - Kaysa/Mahoney

Middle - Jnr,Evans,Terepo,Mannah,Alvaro,Brown,Tepai

Edge - Manu,KE,Tepai,Niaukore,Taka

For mine edge is where id be adressing first nased on Jnr been signed.
T rex is worth a 1yr deal.
Surely 1-2 juniors will be ready also.

Kaysa recent form gives hope and Gjennings offers value on the wing. If a good 2nd rower was available id go for them first. That pushes Tepai to prop and fills another spot.
A quality centre would be also my next option unless BA thinks Taka or Hayne can do the job.

I think hooker and prop are our two biggest needs.
Seems we are well on our way to filling the prop need with Paulo, so hopefully we can get something going in the hooker department.

Theres not much in it for manly releasing cheap players if their purpose is to reduce cap

For sure, on top of which they're appealing, and if they can drag it out past June 30, well, every team's supposed to have all their spots filled.

So you gotta move some one on to create a spot, but you can't move anyone on if there aint no spots to move 'em to.

So player swap becomes the only option.

And you aint gonna clear any cap space of any significance swapping a cheapy for a cheapy.

Only way it works to reduce your cap is a subsidy.

I think we're done paying players to play for other clubs, at least for the time being.

Two questions: 1. Could George Jennings play centre? 2. Will Pritchard's excellent recent form continue, or is hooker still an urgent recruitment prìority? Maybe that's three questions.

1.Depends on his defence but long term I doubt it
2. I think it’s more ability he is showing rather than form as he’s getting more an extended run at top level
3. I’d have to check with @Poupou Escobar but I think all our hookers are off contract? If that’s the case hooker is a priority. Whether that’s Kaysa and a good backup or someone better than Kaysa is up to BA
