Rumours and Stuff

Just my 2C on the Kenny issue, I have a senior management role in the corporate world and recently had a similar issue although of course not in the sporting arena so here is how I see it.

Here is the conundrum.

If we sack Kenny Edwards for not adhering to our standards as a club, is he then free to go and sign cheaply for another club say... The Roosters? Or will the NRL step in and back us up as a club and ban him like they did with a Carney etc? Bernie needs to clarify this clearly.

Then they need to ask the question, how much does this players behaviour in recent times off the field actually effect the team? Its a serious question as I don't know however I would hazard a guess and say not much, but I could be wrong. In which case if Brad Arthur finds him valuable as a player than fine him more, ban him for 10 weeks (or something appropriate) and start again.

My point is I don't see the advantage in chopping a player who "may" not be causing grief with his poor decisions to anyone but himself (losing game time and money).

I understand that our club needs to set standards, I do. But these days in professional sport, standards go hand in hand to the value of a player and his on field talent. If the NRL are going to let him be signed by someone else than why not deal with it in house and keep him?

The board if they are strong need to identify exactly where the NRL stand in relation to this and then understand the impact on the playing group as a whole before rushing into a decision.

Hey merkin, the real question is, are you doing the right thing and using your corporate capital to sponsor the Great and Mighty Eels or not? And if not, why not, you blow hard? Get your shit together and drop a few 100k on our boys you mealy mouth gutless jelly fish!

Note: For the imbeciles among us, use your sarcasm monitor pls.

Another consideration is potential loss of future sponsorship dollars if we continually accept poor behaviour. In the extremely competitive market of corporate sponsorship, a club’s brand and marketability is incredibly important.

Not if Stevie looks after us.

Stevie said he’s in senior management ffs. His job is to keep costs down. Sponsoring the Eels would get him rissoled from the corporate world forever.

Stevie is the night manager at McDonald’s, the assistant manager is middle management and the pimply little f*ck on the fryer is lower management. They are the only 3 on shift and Stevie can’t even give out some $20 f*cking vouchers to the players? Get your f*cken act together

Dapto Canaries rugby league player Tory Brunning collapsed and died after a game in Wollongong.

A promising young rugby league player has collapsed and died between games at a Wollongong football ground.

Tory Brunning, 22, from the Dapto Canaries played reserve grade against Wests Devils on Saturday before reportedly leaving the field at halftime complaining of flu-like symptoms.

He was scheduled to back-up for the first grade clash at 3pm before falling ill and collapsing in the sheds.

Brunning was treated by the Devils team doctor before paramedics arrived but he was unable to be revived.

“My baby brother was a star in this family — he was doing so well,” his sister Kourtney Waitarehu told News Limited.

“A piece of our heart has been taken from us all and may he rest in Our Lord’s arms.

“He went from regional football to national New Zealand football and just kept rising, he just had a passion for rugby league.”

The Country Rugby League issued a statement saying counselling and support was being provided to Brunning’s family and friends, as well as both clubs.

Gee that's awful.

Is it just me or is this happening more than it ever used to? Maybe it's just being reported more, but I've played footy most of my life and never really heard about anything like this happening

Heart attack symptoms are varied. Not always chest pain and the much publicised paid running down left arm.

FFS who says he doesn't already, merkin? Or maybe he isn't in a position to yet. And now your f**king attitude may have just put him off ever attempting. Thanks a lot merkin. BTW why don't you pony up some cash to attract the white Euro trash you want at the club.
Stick to your flat earth and rakes Rammy boy!

Yeah I realise that.

Tbh I'm more talking about how often it seems to happen these days. Is it just that they are reported.more or is it something else?

I might just be talking shit too after a lengthy discussion with a mate of mine about how crossfit is killing people. But I definitely never heard about stuff like this when I was playing.

I think it's more that a causal link has been identified (I don't know if it applies to this bloke) with hypertrophic myopathy. Plus it is likely that professional sportspeople are now "fitter" than they were in decades past

From what I have seen from the early 90’s to now in country footy is that the players are a lot better built (and less fat), is there any relation to the internet and more freely available vitamins.........
