Woods is quality, may not be exactly what we need , but top echelon props ( of which he is undoubtedly one ) aint signing for 500k in today's player market.

Whether we could afford him with Junior coming, ( or indeed if we need him ) without upsetting squad balance would I reckon rely on the Dogs picking up a good proportion of his freight.

Anyways, I'd rather Klemmer, big bloke, big heart, big minutes, and he aint fat.

We could potentially afford him if we let Norman go - we wouId still have the halves / fullback covered with our contracted players.

His post contact metres seem pretty good:

Better then RGC but obviously you need to work it out per run.

I really reckon he would make a massive difference to our side. Plus his leadership skills wouId be a bonus.
Well using the Pou formula his leadership skills are worth about $200k pa extra.
Seriously tho if Dogs paid $250-300k pa over his full contract would be worth it regardless of the back-ending (unless absolutely ridiculous).

Possibly, though I think the relation between this measure and value to the team is probably no linear. So, would probably have take the log of the ratio, or perhaps the square root.
Sorry your formula is wrong. You forgot to apply the quotient to the above divided by the square of the object.

Once most of the 12 odd players are let go at seasons end we should free up about $2m plus. Scott is on $600k alone so most of the other players would be paid more than what we expect, you can count on it. No wonder our cap was a mess.

Yes, I don't see how our cap could be called a mess. I think it is more likely that cap wise we are just about out of the mess that led to the disaster that was 2016.

The fact we have so many players off contract between 2019 and 2020 says pretty clearly that there isn't too many nasty back-ended deals there, because off contract players do not have back-ended contracts, on account of them being off contract

Further given we have bought Junior, who would not have been cheap, says we have room. ( or at least had )

We expect them all to fit under the cap. So if they're all (or even mostly) on overs they wouldn't fit and we'd be over the cap.

Our cap is fine. The problem is players who were playing well last year are either injured or playing poorly.

Really? How is it a mess? We purchased one prop and are in the market for more players.

We don’t need to let anyone go. Manly , dogs and the raiders are clubs with their caps stuffed up!!

Also not re-signing Scott makes no difference to what we can do next year!!
Agree our cap is not a mess, just the team is. It's very exciting.

Pass on Woods.
Not the style of prop we need over the next few years.

But, think of the possible marketing opportunities?
