Rumours and Stuff

At the end of the day , this inalbility to control the salarycap and possibly not have enough to to sign JH could well be the final nail for a lot of supporters.
I am in Hawaii and have had texts from family and from a long term fans saying that if they allow JH leave they have had enough of following such a poorly run team, it's so disappointing that they will switch off.
While there will be the usual people who say that their attitude is not good enough, we should have a real good look at the the current CEO. To say he has been anything but a big disappointment is an understatement. Don't like to suggest it , but BA was apparently involved in cap, management , what a f**k up when they stuffed it so bad that they can't manage it so a player that actually wants to play for the club ,and despite some failing is loved by the majority, is forced to possibly move elsewhere.
It's a really bad look for the club and they will lose a major part of the trust and unwavering support that they had.
There's a lot of truth here that we tend to ignore as rusted on fans, the CEO needs to come out and provide an explanation no matter how unpalatable, these are dark times despite the new stadium and signings.
I look at this differently, and just like the majority here I have no inside info, and believe that we have made an offer. Probably not much more than this year or probably the same but JH values himself higher and is now using social media to put pressure on the club. In reality Hayne is a player with plenty of skill but a lousy attitude, when he wants to play he is good but there are just too many times he doesn't want to play . That combined with his injuries means he is not worth big money. Imo if the club doesn't come to an agreement then stiff shit and Hayne can go his own way. If French Rugby want to throw good money away and pay him 750k then they have more money than sense.

Andrew Davey is the most bizarre signing the club has made in a long time. I'm at a lost to understand the purpose of it to be honest.

I presume he's on one of these 27-30 pay packets only?

He’s a 6’4” backrower who is apparently hungry.

Davey has impressed coach Kristian Woolf who can only see upsides in his career.

"Andrew has got all the physical attributes and is a big, tall athletic back-rower with plenty of aggression about him," he said.

"Since he has been in our system he has put on about seven kilos and that is going to help his footy this year.

"I just think he has a lot of raw and untapped talent.”

Because he is a better backup at his position (edge forward) than any other option we could have signed for minimum salary.

You can say we could’ve given some junior (Faingaa?) his top 30 spot but what if he’s not worth such a spot?

Well, he is 27.
So he’s at his peak. If you’re only going to be good enough for an NRL contract one year in your life it’s more likely to be at 27 than 21. The thing is that most blokes who wouldn’t have been good enough for an NRL contract until they were 27 have already quit taking footy seriously years before.

Why Nathan Ross holds the key to Jarryd Hayne potentially staying at Parramatta

Phil Rothfield, The Daily Telegraph

THE man who holds the key to Jarryd Hayne playing for the Parramatta Eels next year is none other than Newcastle Knights centre Nathan Ross.

The Knights have offered ‘Ross Dog’ permission to negotiate elsewhere and possibly find an opportunity in the UK Super League.

If this was to happen, the Knights would sign former Origin centre Michael Jennings from Parramatta which in turn would free up the space in the Eels’ salary cap for Hayne.

The Knights are carefully balancing their roster which is why they can’t sign Jennings while Ross remains at the club. What is left in their cap is earmarked for forwards, not centres.

Whether Hayne is prepared to wait for Ross Dog to determine his future remains to be seen.

EARLY BIRD BLAKE

BLAKE Ferguson wasn’t due to start training at the Eels until next month.

Yet on Thursday the ex-Rooster showed up for a full session to do his pre-season testing and some drills.

The coaching staff and the players were super impressed.

Roosters and Storm players involved in the grand final have another three weeks off. Ferguson will continue doing light work until he officially starts.

Mate, he's been nowhere near NRL. If he was a 'playa' he'd have been picked up long ago. Besides, his eyes are too close together.
