When we start running our club like the Roosters and attracting the best coaches and players to our club, then we two can pay way less for our starting squad.

So there's a few clubs that don't have any option contracts, a few with player options but no cub options, a few with club options but no player options, and the Tigers who only have mutual option contracts. In general it is clear that the option favours the party who was in the stronger negotiating position, although it could also have been that the PO is just a way to give the player something outside the cap (optionality) making him cheaper in the non-option years of the contract (and possibly still good value in the option years as well).

Teams aren't just looking at premiership winners when recruiting. They are looking at everyone off contract. Tedesco had never played finals when the Roosters offered him big money to leave Wests.

I think Brown could attack the line like Radley does, Brown has a very good pass in him, but we choose to use him like a battering ram 95% of the time. Such a negative mentality from our coaches and stifles our attack big time on the 4th and then 5th tackle.

Yes. He was on 800k and one of the best hookers in game. The fact we only gave him one year with a 2nd in our favour means we paid higher then if we guaranteed him 2yrs.
What do people think he would of cost? If it wasn't 400k it would of been close. Atleast 350k imo.
I doubt he hangs around in the NRL for 200k for one year

Well zerotackle has him on $700k this year, then some site called seriousaboutrl says he’s taking a paycut of over half his current contract of $800k, so let’s say $450k. 700 - 450 is $250k. And players always say media inflates the actual amount so $200k a year seems pretty bang on by my calculations.

The media only inflates contracts when the story is f**k IT'S BIG! When the story is that the player's on unders they would report a number lower than what he's really on.

It is. They're not losing players because they've won premierships, they're losing players because they've developed them to the point they can no longer fit them under the cap. Whether they won a premiership or not is a separate issue. It just means that at their best they are so good they are almost guaranteed to win a comp every four or five years. At our best we're not that good but we are still good enough to consistently make the finals, and we are doing that by developing players. The result of this is being unable to fit them under the cap.

The squad we have assembled is awesome and can and should be equal to the top sides. The only real problem is our coaching staffs ability to get the best out of them and maybe our ability as a club to keep the squad together long enough to win a premiership.
