I agree. Matterson has done nothing at edge. His best footy has always been middle.

Wouldn't say he did nothing. He did his job. But his style isn't suited to how we use that RHS edge. We want a hole hitter. Although we may have to change plans on that side, Papa was explosive and would barnstorm into holes. Haven't played close attention to Murchie's style.

I think he runs to upright for edge and not explosive enough. He is a great lock.
We now have 3 or 4 options for edge with Murchie,Doorey,Bryce and possible that Matalele breaks out. He is old enough if good enough so a big off season and who knows.

It’s not about what’s best for him, it’s what’s best for the team. Obviously it’s easier to accumulate stats in the middle than out wide, but we have plenty of middles and not enough edge forwards. Hopefully Murchie can step up.

Maybe it's a sign they're preparing to jettison Brooks despite Sheens' constant denials. They could have Hastings and Douehi in the halves and Will on the bench...

Not even being facetious here but I reckon Will Smith would give equal or marginally better output in the number 7 jersey than Brooks at literally 10% of Brooks' 2023 salary...
