Reading between the lines think Parra are relying on the young blokes coming thru this year and next to form the nucleus of the team. Think 9 juniors trained with team this preseason so assume most of those will be in top 30 next year. Think 9 slots are available in top 30 for next year atm.
I’d be surprised if all 9 ‘made it’ About three of them is more likely. Most of them will turn into Cini types. We can only hope that we can create another Momoisea and turn into a perfect back up player.

We need back ups, apparently more than Bitcoin.

What's your point? If we got him now the Raiders have already been paying him since November and because he's terrible and no one wants him there would be very few if any bidders and we'd be signing him as depth so he wouldn't cost much.

No one would be excited by Cotric, if he was signed by the club on low money neither would the club.
The other part of the equation is that we give up Sanders, who hasn't even signed with them yet, in exchange for Cotric who would take up a top 30 spot. The top 30 spot is way more important to us then the money.
My point is we can do better and its a crap swap. We give up our junior representative half for their dreggs.

We don't have a Top 30 spot at this point to give him though. The players we would need to move on appear to be Cini, Taumoepenu and Rodwell of which none are really appealling to other clubs hence the possibility of Matterson being moved. Giving them Sanders doesn't help us in any way shape or form.

I wouldn't make a swap. But I'm not against signing Cotric outright

If they allow Rodwell to go early we will. Would you want to give our only top 30 spot and our Rep Half up for Cotric?
My point is that we can do better then taking their dreggs.

Im prepared to wait and see which Matto we get this year and see if Kelma really is our new Marata.
I really liked Marata but I reckon Kelma will finally bring that

Okalatu, Kolomatangi, Kikau, D Fafita type of big body on our edge.

Give Hoppy a break, shift Carty to lock and Kelma at right edge or if Lano gets gassed, give him a break and stick Kelma there.

It is one of the few signings of late that I really am excited about

yeah, its fairly obvious Sanders will want NRL games at some stage and if he stays here it will be a while

perhaps now is the time to cash in on his postential and use him to trade up to a decent outside back

I know its not that simple but we need to do something

I am still not sold on him. When I watch him play, from memory, he has a good 1st stint but then his subsequent stints he sort of goes in his shell
We only need him to play one stint of the bench. Has some footwork before the line which makes him an interesting option. Good depth.

We need a quality up and comer that is excess to needs at their current club that is happy to come here with knowledge they are one injury away from getting a shot at first grade.

And I can assure you so is the club.

Which is why someone like Matterson is a great carrot. He will want an extension after 2025 and I can’t see us keeping him however a club like Saints would want him and give him the long term deal he desires.

We could do the same with Lomax. I know that Blaize is highly regarded but we must as a club have a viable experienced alternative if Penisini ends up at Union. The Roosters do it and strategically plan ahead, no reason we can’t do the same.

I'm warming to the idea of Matterson being offloaded, especially with the anticpated development of Hopgood.

Blake Wilson and Eli Clarke are 2 from the dogs I would be signing now for 2025 if they are available.
